The staff is absolutely wonderful and truly care for my mom. They are priced just right and have good facilities and activities. They have taken the time to get to know my mom to help draw her out and make her welcome. We were hopeful that this place would be better than the rest. It was clean and the staff seemed nice. Unfortunately, nursing homes are only as good as their staff. During my mother’s stay the nursing staff didn’t follow protocol and it resulted in my mother falling and having to go to the ER due a hematoma from the fall. Luckily, she recovered well but it could have ended badly, especially as someone with a history of falls and a brain injury from the year before. The administration knew she had a severe fear of falling and extra precautions should have been taken. I was really disappointed.

June 22, 2023Hi, we're glad to hear we delivered such a great experience. If there's anything further we can do for you, we are happy to help!
You need to check it out thoroughly for yourself. Walk the grounds. Meet every person who works there. The facility itself needs work. Food quality and nutrition needs work. They need more staff. They do have the best therapy of any place around. They have a big therapy room and an outside company that comes in and does all three kinds of therapy. You can also schedule those therapy visits. But some of the other areas need improvement before I could recommend Charter.
My friend is in the memory care. The last time I visited, she was in a wheelchair trying to get to a table. She was in a corner, rolling back and forth bumping into a corner. Everyone looked sad and unkempt and lonely. One lady was eating with flies on her plate. I looked around and there was a stack of old games and puzzles, looking dusty. The one caregiver was sitting looking at her phone. Never even looked up. I cried! Pitiful situation!! Get off that chair and phone and interact with the residents. I took my friend to her room to help her to the bathroom, she was already wet and dirty. Her room was dirty and unkempt. We went back to the big room, still no interaction or words spoken until I asked for some water for my friend. I hated leaving her there.

We loved Charter Senior Living - the sales gentlemen [name removed] and [name removed] were unbelievable to work with and really helped us move our loved one in. We cannot say enough good things about them. The staff were just the nicest, and sweetest individual who were more then willing to assists us with any help. Just like everyone else at times the struggled with staffing but for the most part the staff and aids working stayed on a consistent schedule and always treated our loved one with the upmost respect. They had activities going on all the time on the assisted living side - a lot of musical entertainment. On the memory care side they had activities as well for those who were able to take advantage of them. It was a wonderful experience

This community was lovely. The only downfall was that it was on the smaller side and my loved one wanted more people to interact with.
We moved here around 6 months ago to be closer to medical facilities and doctors for my wife who was quite ill at the time, I personally needed very little aide or assistance but my wife [name removed] needed considerable assistance which increased each month. She sadly passed away in September after receiving extremely good care in this community, for which I am grateful. We were both impressed by Charter Senior Living. It is a lovely building in a grove of trees which makes it seem out in the country, but is actually really close to any and every kind of shopping and medical need. The building is perfectly maintained and very attractive. The staff has been well trained and professional in their duty, while also friendly and kind. The food is delicious, with careful consideration of dietary needs. The entire community is immaculate and attractively decorated. I am sadly moving, but my family is in the Pennsylvania area. I will miss my many friends here and wish everyone the very best!

I toured this community with [name removed] and it is a hidden gem! The staff are very friendly and the community is clean. The residents look like they are having so much fun with all the activities! I tried the fried chicken, and it was amazing!

We chose Charter Senior Living because of the location, it was closer to home and also we were left to believe that it was a very good place to him to be. But I do not feel that way anymore. I would tell others to just make sure to constantly check in on your loved ones because it takes a long time when residents press their call button. That has been our biggest issue and they also seem to be short staffed.

Their fees are based on what they do for them. She has macular degeneration. They were supposed to help feed her, fill out the meal forms, and they would leave food on a tray and not feed her. She was starving. Some of the staff weren't as nice to her as they could be. She was terrorized to be there. They brought soup to her one time, dinner was never brought to her. This is because no one filled out her menu, if my husband wasn't there she would have starved. They would take her into the lunch room at 11 or 12 at night. This is while the people were laughing at night and doing their jobs, due to her hollering for assistance. They would leave her in her wheelchair during this time. She was tired of sitting in her wheelchair and not what she was supposed to be doing. This is one of the reasons she was scared. I picked this place due to my grandparents being at this community after my grandparents had been there when it was under private ownership. I would not recommend to anyone. They touched her room, but didn't clean the room. Activities including singing, and on Sunday they would be someone to read the bible, and even had bingo. I feel that if we left her there she would have been dead.

I cannot even give this place a rating. My mom lives there and tells me that they have cut down on the amount of food the residents are given. If they have to go to the doctor they have to stay in their rooms for 14 days without seeing anyone. She had a plant that she had for a few years and had it hanging outside. Someone there gave it away. She said that yesterday for lunch she was given 1 chicken leg, and a little rice and beans. She said the food is aweful, and she should know because she is a really good cook. I am trying to get her moved somewhere else. She said the assistants yell at them if they ask a question. DON'T PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE.

I wish I could give Brookdale Hamilton Mill ten stars. My mom is in the memory care area and we are so very wonderfully happy with the care she receives at Brookdale. The staff that take care of mom - [names removed] and so many more- are caring, kind, patient and attentive to my mom and all the patients. They look at each patient independently and know their likes and dislikes in food and activities and all aspects of their life at Brookdale and adjust the patients life to what makes that patient happy, comfortable and feeling loved. We are so blessed to have the staff in our mom's and our life. In a situation that can be so hard and upsetting the staff at Brookdale has made it a wonderful life for mom. The facility is clean and the staff is always cleaning up for the patients and the food is very good!

I would not recommend Brookdale of Buford. My mother was there for 7 months and although the individual caregivers are attentive and wonderful, the Administrative staff lacks compassion, and professionalism. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to sign on the dotted line. We were told many services would be available and provided and they were not. Constantly had to fight for simple services that we were told she would receive. Lied to over and over, always unprepared when we requested meetings to discuss situations. Look into other places before you put your loved one there!
