[name removed], the intake coordinator was extremely helpful. She made the decision to choose Cedarhurst at Edison Lakes incredibly easy. My mother is content at this facility. Her apartment is exactly what she needed. The meal schedule is difficult for her to always attend. However, knowing she has the availability is great. Unfortunately, there have been some difficult issues with the executive staff refusing to work further with me or my mother and not returning calls or emails. We've tried to resolve these issues, even speaking to corporate. [name removed] at corporate was very friendly. Finally, after nearly 10 days, I heard back from the Edison Lakes Executive director. I'm hopeful things will continue to improve, despite the fact I don't think this situation was handled well. That is sad considering the amount my mother spends each month. It's difficult to rate staff overall. While the executive director was slow to respond and the assistant executive director has yet to reach out despite me being told she was reprimanded, EVERYONE else from the nurse to the maintenance and cleaning staff have been 5 star.... The staff at Cedarhurst provides a very safe & family oriented atmosphere. They go out of their way to accommodate the needs of the resident. There is prompt follow up for any issues that may arise. Very helpful with the admission process.

My father has been a resident of Cedarhurst for 8 months. He's very content and very well-taken care of. Although he was living independently prior to that, my siblings and I were becoming more concerned about his safety, as well as whether he was taking his medications at the proper times. He was also not eating properly. It's a huge relief for us knowing he's in a safe, caring and friendly environment. He actually looks forward to going to the dining room for meals (food is great, with many choices), while visiting with new friends he's made. It's definitely a good fit for him!

We didn't feel like it was the right fit for my loved one.
The facility is very very clean and very comfortable, truly a beautiful place. The rooms are nice, the residents are nice and the aids are great. Our loved one now aged [age removed] is very happy there and even though the adjustment was big, it was a good one which is a positive note thanks to Cedarhurst. We wish nothing but the best for this community, but we are having some issues. At times the staff are overwhelmed and we can tell. The medical side of things is a big concern - if an elderly senior needs assistance with medicine administration that is a stumbling block. They are not well equipped to handle that, the aids and nurses are very nice but the presentation and process of the medicine distribution is hectic. We can not blame the community fully, their in house pharmacy is the one that has all the medicine and notes for each residents but at times it is disorganized and that's when the timeliness of our loved ones medicine isn't consistent that is when the concern arises.
The reason we did not choose Cedarhurst was due to the small room sizes, mom would have had to buy all new furniture in order for it to fit.
The activities were still pretty minimal with the restrictions but they still allowed them to do some activities. The community was clean, the staff members were all really friendly and the price was more reasonable compared to other communities in the area.

My mother has lived in this facility for almost five years. They over promise and under deliver in nearly every area. The ‘house keeping’ provided is abysmal. They vacuum through the middle of the apartment and clean nothing. The food quality has gotten worse yearly. They serve absolutely no fresh seasonal fruits or vegetables. Since Covid- it feels as if you have locked your loved one away- at a very high cost. They rule with tyranny. My mother has had 2 vaccines, but cannot leave overnight without being quarantined to her apartment yet again. We have to wear 2 masks to visit- stay distanced, no eating or drinking.....we have not been in our mom’s apartment for over a year. As restrictions everywhere are lightening up- the Cedarhurst is locking down:( My mother is getting increasingly depressed and wanting to go to heaven to get out of the Cedarhurst. They are a nightmare to deal with. I would look elsewhere if you love the person you are looking to move....

Make sure to do your research when looking into this community. I do not feel my loved ones did receive the care for the amount of money spent. Communication was ok. There was an issue with privacy and we felt they too eager to come into the rooms without permission. I would not recommend this community to others.

The community is not very good with medication distribution. They want to have the meds ordered from their pharmacy and it was way more expensive. Communication needed to be better between the staff and family it was not consistent. If you can manage the med for your loved on I would recommend this community to others. The facility is very nice and in a good neighborhood.

Do not move someone you love into the Cedarhurst. It has been a nightmare for the last year due to Covid. But their policies go way beyond Draconian and continue even after the vaccine. Nothing has changed, except policies are more tyrannical than ever!!!! They do not even follow CDC guidelines, they make their own to make life miserable for the residents, and loved ones who are barely allowed to visit. My mother's life was already small, but they manage to make it smaller by the day. The food is not good quality. Housekeeping is abysmal. The 'housekeeper' runs a vacuum through the middle of the apartment once a week. Cleans nothing!!!! Activities provided are a joke. Look around - there are many places that have opened up for the residents and family and are trying to get back to normal. The Cedarhurst is not one of them...

The staff members have been great, and the care services are excellent. They have done an outstanding job during the pandemic and quarantine residents and employees when appropriate. Our loved one would say the meals are a 6+, the quality is great and there is a wide variety of options to choose from. She is overall very impressed, and she is very satisfied with the amenities and quality of service she received. Our loved one has a nice size apartment with two bedrooms and two baths. We also get an email five days a week giving any updates regarding covid.

My husband and loved one went to tour this community and they both really liked it, however our loved one moved in during the COVID shut down so we have not been able to see what is going on. From our understanding the care services seem to be good.

The overall atmosphere and staff at The Waterford at Edison Lakes are incomparable. The food is good. The room sizes and layout of the community are adequate. They have outdoor space for the residents to use.

Our Mom absolutely loved the Waterford at Edison Lakes. From the moment she walked into the lobby, Mom felt welcomed and compassionately cared for. [Name removed] and her team at Waterford made the move for Mom as easy as possible - providing outstanding options for moving support and finding just the right apartment to fit Mom's needs. Mom told us, "When I walked into the apartment, it just felt like home!" She was greeted on her first day by the Welcoming Committee who helped introduce her to others and helped her to quickly develop friendships and become a part of the warm community there. Mom was an amazing cook and particular about where she dined - she really liked the food at the Waterford and the all-day availability of meals. She also enjoyed bingo and the many social activities and staff at the Waterford. Her days were filed with good conversation and enjoyable activities - such a wonderful transition away from the loneliness she had previously experienced living alone. We looked at a number of facilities in the South Bend-Mishawaka area for Mom, and found the Waterford offered the best, full-service, compassionate care for its residents. Our family highly recommends the Waterford for anyone looking for a warm, caring, safe facility for their loved one.

Nice community nestled in a limited traffic area. Clean facility with great assisted living services and friendly staff. Nice outdoor area for residents who want to enjoy the outdoors and watch deer coming out of the woods. We've known others who have lived in this community and they've been very happy with the community.

Poor Communication between family!!! When You do get a hold of them they are on the defense. Always understaffed, the meals are average, there oatmeal is so thick. A lot of change with personal. The facility is beautiful just wish they had nice, caring staff to go with it. The director of nursing fails to get back to family members.

My mother is well here in this community. They are taking good care of her, and her needs. They have a good staff, and I know she is in good hands. She is doing well, and I'am comfortable with her move to this community. They do a good job with the cleanliness around the community. This is a facility I would recommend to my family, and friends.
