I recently moved my mother from another AL to CW's and it was the best transition for her! She adjusted really well and loves the courtyard and the movie theater - its a real theater room! The Nursing staff and it is clean. My mother loves the food, they have to blend it up and it was no problem, and the 3 snacks are the best. She shares a room with another lady and it is amazin! The Sales lady said after meeting my mom we should try a shared room, she seems lonely and she had an opening so we did it! best thing ever and we saved [price removed] monthly by sharing a room. They are committed to getting the residents to the dining hall every day and encourage residents to go. They have a lot of activities for the residents. My mom has made friends with other residents at the dining hall. My mom has some very difficult bariatric needs and is non ambulatory. They use a hoyer lift every day so my mom can get out of bed. I appreciate this hard work and expertise. Many of the staff are really friendly and hardworking. Some of the workers rushed and not so friendly according to my mom. I know my mom can can be difficult sometimes, so I don't know if that's part of the problem. The staff have been unable to have portable oxygen ready for when my mom leaves the building. The tank has been empty, the valve not on tight, and one time had a bad leak. As a result I have gotten my mom her own portable O2 machine. My mom says she sometimes goes for a couple hours without being changed. It seems like this typically happens when the staff are very busy with meal time

We picked this community, because of the price to value with a facility that has a memory care unit. Positive and caring staff. Amenable and helpful. Community is under good directorship.

What we like the most about the CedarWoods Assisted Living community is the personal attention the residents receive, and they receive a lot of it. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to others. The residents seem happy as well. CedarWoods attempts to provide services for challenged budgets

I would definitely let others know that CedarWoods is very short staffed. The staffing issues have been my main concern and where they need to improve most. I cannot recommend this facility until they get their staffing numbers up.

Response from CedarWoods Assisted Living
June 14, 2023Hello APFM, I am sorry that a Anonymous person would put this in writing; I truly wish they would come forward with their name and provide proof to this accusation. CedarWoods Assisted Living is a licensed HOME FOR THE AGED and follows all standards when it comes to staffing our Community and caring for our Residents. I have been the Public Relations Director here at CedarWoods for 7 years, our Team struggled thru COVID-19 like every other Health Care Community, but our Team has always pulled together and our Staffing is above and beyond! We have a great Team of RCA's, Med-Techs, Dietary, Housekeeping, and Activity Aides that help our Residents and make CedarWoods Shine! Visit our CedarWoods Face Book to see the daily activities and love throughout our Community! To all reading this, stop by anytime and meet our fabulous Team!
What we really liked about the community was the staff members they were super friendly. It was a short stay for our loved one but one thing that was really important to us was the ability to come and go as we pleased. Based on the experience we did have we would recommend this community to other families.

We toured a couple other assisted living facilities, we narrowed it down to 3 and let my mom see all of them and what all they had to offer. She ended up choosing CedarWoods. The staff is awesome. They seem to know all of the residents by name, the staff and the residents knew her by name within a few days of her being there which I thought was great. I would recommend Cedarwoods to other families.

The people were very nice. They had a good security system to keep residents from wandering. They were helpful, friendly, and competent. The staff did a good job, and were friendly and efficient. They kept a close watch on mom, and provided a good level of care. They were willing to work with me on my moms budget, and offered care, in which she was in hospice. It was a good location. Kudos to A Place for Mom.

My one issue is they do a lot of things by email, which is difficult for people with a tremor. I would much rather have people call me than email me. But I would definitely recommend them to others - and I have. When I go to visit my friend, she's very clean, her clothes are clean, and her room is clean. She was very heavy and struggled with restless legs, and both of those things are under control now, which means she's medication compliant. Between meals, I've seen them passing out a snack of fruit and crackers, and twice a day they pass out a large amount of water, which I was impressed with. The staff seem friendly as well. They talk to her, and they also talk to me when I come in.

This is a small community and the staff are nice and attentive. However it is kind of just the bare bones. They have activities like going out to watch the air shows nearby, beach parties, outside dance parties, and so much more for the residents to do to stay busy. Everyday they have something going on it was just all enclosed in in their space, always something for them to do.

The staff members are very friendly, and the meals and dining service is okay. The care services are what I am having a problem with and the value for cost is way to high.

If you are looking for memory care, this is the best out there. The care they have been giving my loved one has been outstanding. I would like to be able to go in to see my loved one. The communication has been pretty good with the staff.

If somebody is looking for a place that is affordable, if they're undecided, I would absolutely recommend Cedar Woods. I've been in several facilities, and I wasn't impressed, even some of the "better" ones. I thought Cedar Woods were very good. I never had a problem, couldn't complain about my loved one's care. And I was there a lot. There was no smell at all, which is not the case in other places. They were just really on top of the residents that were incontinent. I never once smelled urine or feces, and that's a big deal. All you'd smell was disinfectant. It was very clean there. My loved one had dementia and had some falls, but that certainly wasn't their fault. His brain and his body just weren't communicating. I was in and out of lot of places, and Cedar Woods was very good. I remember it from many years ago, when it wasn't very good. It was Belleville at the time. They did a really great job of turning the place around. The staff are great. They were all wonderful. My loved one didn't complain about the food, and I met the cook. She was wonderful. I know they were always having something for the residents to do. The activities were pretty good from what I could see. I think the value was great, more than fair. When my loved one was in a shared room, he never had any problems. They have a hospice service at Cedar Woods called Heart to Heart, and I would rate them 200% if I could. Especially during this Covid year, Cedar Woods was on top of everything. They were very, very adamant about having a Covid test if you were coming through the doors. And the only visitors allowed through the doors were for residents on hospice, up until the guidelines changed. When my loved one was on hospice care for several months, they required rapid Covid tests before we could come in to visit. The owner was just absolutely adamant about Covid procedure. And they were Covid free the entire year of 2020 through the end of the Fall. When it did show up, it was very brief and handled well.

We checked out five places and Cedar Woods was the most cost-effective. My wife had Alzheimer's and does not do too many activities. Prior to the Pandemic they had entertainment and music and she liked that. We chose Cedar Woods because they are able to manage my wife's high care needs. We have been happy with her care so far.

The staff was very good to my dad. They went through a lot of doctors and some were not very good. My dad loved the food. The layout of the community and room sizes were good. They had two gardens for residents to enjoy.

A Place for Mom has scored CedarWoods Assisted Living 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
