Do not send your love ones here! They have changed names several times. There were not enough staff to deal with residents but was told several times they had hired more people. No activities for the residents. Giving a dementia resident a word search paper is not an activity. Had to ask numerous times for laundry to be done and then items would go missing. If they can’t figure something out they just send your love one to the ER. If resident didn’t come to dinner a take out dinner would be put in their room. No monitoring done at night. Should of been checked on every 2 hours, but usually only one staff member and a med tech on duty. And that staff member was supposed to do the laundry on night shift.

My brother and I had a disappointing experience from the start. I brought my brother to TerraBella because of the intermittent resident wing (between assistant living and memory), when we got there he was placed in memory care. It was pouring rain on day we came (with an open trunk) and it was just me and my brother. I was told by the memory care director that no one could give hand trucks or help us in any way. My brothers room was not ready when we came and his bathroom was being shared with a woman. He refused to use it. When the room was ready (about a week later) the heat didn’t work and we noticed there were no door knobs on closets and all doors are unlocked. Resident are allowed to roam freely in and out of any room they like and if they take something, it is allowed. My brother pushed a person out of his room, who wouldn’t leave and TerraBella called an ambulance to check him for a UTI???? We decided to leave, and TerraBella refused to send his TB test for 2 weeks and……..

My mother was wheeled out each day and left to sit in the common area with all the other residents. I never saw any activities going on during her entire stay ( nearly 14 months). At night, there was no video monitoring of rooms and from what I understand, nobody walked the hall to check on residents. Another resident, a male with a past history, walked into my mother's room and violently assaulted her. My mother weighed 85lbs. She had no defense against his attack, except to cry out until someone came. For the cost of the facility, we definitely did not get our money's worth. I hope all facilities are not like this.

I don't recommend the community at all. I've had multiple issues with my loved one being in their care. The pharmacy the community uses sets up the medical techs for failure. There are medications that have been discontinued by the doctor, or not giving the new medication that the doctor ordered. The pharmacy has lost prescriptions for my loved one. They are very short staffed; however, the caregivers try their best. I believe the interactions with my loved one has been good. The majority of the caregivers are good. They have stated there was an activities calendar, and there is none to be found. The only activities that are offered in the assisted living area. The staff don't take my loved one over to participate in the activities offered. The meals are awful according to my loved one. The meals don't look appetizing. This should be a simple pleasure at the resident's age. My loved one never look forward to a meal. The food was always cold, as the food is being brought over by the assisted living staff. One dinner recently was a baked potato with cold cheese and a bowl of blueberries. This was disappointing, as it should be more balanced. There was no knife given; however, I understand why one wouldn't be given with meals. My loved one didn't receive a fork to eat meals with, and only received one after several calls by the family. There are huge stains on the carpet in the Assisted Living 2 area. There is a strong odor coming from this area, when we visit our loved one.

I toured with Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill and I was not impressed at all. They were the SAME pricing as the facility that we picked, but the staff and quality of the facility were not even close.

The rooms were decent and I loved how they locked up loved ones clothes. I liked how they had each client in their own room and they shared a bathroom. It didn't seem like they had many activities for their residents. For the most part the place was clean.

My loved one passed away, becasue they were overdosed with medicine. This place is terrible, I would not recommend to anyone.

The staff have always been very kind I just feel like they might not have enough coverage for the memory care unit. When you have patients that are wondering and trying to walk without assistance there just has to be enough coverage to make sure that everyone else is tended to. I go at different times and I really haven't seen any problems besides people wondering. They put a list of the activities up and they had an Easter bbq and we were not able to go due to being sick.

We chose Carolina Gardens because the rooms looked more like an apartment. It has a separate bedroom and a little kitchen so it felt more homey. It has been a good experience and I would recommend them.

During the time my loved one was there, they provided excellent service. And they kept us informed of everything. The food was a little bland. We're used to a lot more seasoning. They had plenty of activities, but my loved one didn't really participate in them. It's pricey, but it seems to be a competitive rate compared to other places.

Carolina Gardens at Rock Hill was a very nice tour. It is a beautiful and clean community. The staff seemed very friendly and helpful. Other members of our family chose another community based on the needs of our loved one.

So far the move to this community has been a good fit for my mother-in-law. The staff provide suitable care and now it is the matter of getting familiar with her needs. They have been attentive to her and she is happy with the meals and that has been helpful. She is participating in some activities and recently played bingo. Her apartment has a full size refrigerator and a full counter top. It also has enough space to use her walker.
