Never again !

The place is horrible. I fell for all the BS the sales woman gave me about the place. I moved my 96 year old mom in this place and in the very first day or two she had already fallen when one of their people was supposedly "helping' her get up from the dinner table. Then another time she fell and tore the skin on her arm she was bleeding all over her bed, the chair and her clothes all day long. I happened to come in and I asked them to bandage her arm at least five times in 2 hours and still no one came. They told me no none was allowed to put a bandage on her except the head nurse .... who buy the way never did anything but hide behind her closed door the same way the Executive Director did. There were several times we asked for aspirin for my mom's headaches that never came....meals that never came. I actually witnessed one of the aids shake my mom violently one day when she didn't want to wake up. They ran the place like a BOOT CAMP instead of an assisted living. MY mom ha

A nice community with room for improvement

They are under new management now so things have improved. In the beginning everything they told us was a lie. That manager got caught with her "hands in the till" and was fired. New management is trying to improve things. There have been great activities for the residents and the time they answer the call button is better.

Horrible Place

This place is horrible. They don’t care about any thing but your money . They refused my mom medical help when she was unconscious. They tried to get rid of me before I saw her. They lied through their teeth about what happened to her. When i finally saw her I asked them to call an ambulance twice… twice they refused. I called myself. The ambulance guys worked on my mom about 20 minutes in her room and another 30 minutes in the ambulance before leaving. She was in the hospital about a month and a half. She was bruised from head to toe and had a concussion and all the people at the place would do was lie to me as usual. I wouldn’t let her go back when she got out of the hospital I put her in another lace. This place is disgusting with some disgusting people working there,

Tour of Brookdale Memorial Oaks

We toured Brookdale Memorial Oaks when searching for an Assisted Living facility for our loved one. The facility needs to be cleaned, it was dirty. They advised me that they couldn't provide the high level of care that my loved one needed.

Would recommend

My first impression of Brookdale was that it is great value for the money, and the location is only minutes away from me. It is a superb facility, the sales lady who we met with on our initial tour was very kind and very sweet. Sometimes it did seem like she was not as familiar with the entire operations of the community, but it was still a really good tour and we still chose Brookdale. Our only complaint we have would be its hot in the common areas. We know the elderly get cold much quicker so i am sure it is to their benefit, but it is a little hot when we go to visit.

Maybe a little older facility but clean and kept up. Residents were playing bingo and they also looked clean and cared for. Would consider facility if I can not find something closer to my home. It’s pretty far from my home and it takes even more time going in towards Houston with traffic and all.

Highly recommend this facility!

First and foremost the staff members were so friendly, especially the ones who helped get her moved in. And the second thing was it smelled very clean there were no fowl smells, and honestly we can say it was very cheery place. This community was very inviting with fresh flower and felt very homey.

Horrible Experience

We had a horrible experience during my fathers time in this community. We would be with him during day, but at night when he needed some help, it would take up to 20 minutes for someone to respond. We moved him out within 5 days. I would not recommend this community anybody.

A single room for dad.

I toured this community and the staff is nice. We liked the room but he did not want a room mate situation. The community was clean and the staff did answer the questions we had. I would recommend this community for other families seeking good qualities of this community.

A Friendly Atmosphere!!

What really caught my attention from this community was the positive interaction between the residents and the staff. . I like that they maintain the community clean. I usually have lunch with my loved one and it's good. If i do have concerns they usually will follow up with me. One thing that they could improve on would be to offer more activities.

A Few Issues, But This Is A Nice Community

Coming from out of state we had a few issues at the beginning with client intake and medication. The director and his management team have provided us with the assistance we needed to remedy the problems to place my mother in the memory unit with no limitations. Other than those issues it has been a good experience. The care staff here is wonderful. They are taking very good care of my mother and all of her needs. They have been very helpful and informative to me as well by making suggestions on what my mother may need. Mother is participating and working on many of the activities they offer throughout the day. The meals are presented nicely, and my mother is pleased with the taste of the food. They are providing her with great care but also with kindness and assistance she needs to adjust to her new community. I feel confident that my mother will be taken care of in a professional and loving way. This is a community I would recommend to anyone whose parents are in the stages of dementia or Alzheimer's.

We would recommend Brookdale Memorial Oaks!!

My parents have been at this community for a few weeks and so far things are good. My parents speak Spanish and there are a few staff members that speak Spanish and help them. They like to participate in some exercise classes that are offered. The food is ok and the community is clean inside and out.

I think it's working out well, so far.

I think it's working out well, so far. They are trying to do what they can. Their follow up with us has been good. We aren't in the same area, so it's difficult to be very thorough. All of her friends that have come to visit think things look pretty good though.
