This review is based off of how things were about a year ago when my loved one was a resident- I would not recommend if family is expecting extra care for resident. I felt that my husband could get equal care at the assisted living facility that he was ultimately moved to. In The Abbey's defense, there was a new nurse in charge of this care level. She was not there long, for whatever reason.

The staff are pleasant, courteous, and efficient. The living quarters are clean, sunny and open. The facility appears to be fairly new. The property itself is quite open for outside walking. I highly recommended it for assisted-living or independent living.

The staff is extremely nice and friendly. Move in was so simple and they were very accommodating to hang pictures etc. They seem to have tons of activities, even though my brother doesn't partake in them. It's a top notch beautiful facility. Definitely recommend!

My loved one was a resident at The Abbey and overall the experience was good. The staff was great for the most part, there wasn't enough staff, but they were in the process of hiring more. They were also finding a new Wellness Director, so it took a long time getting my loved one's care plan and meds sorted out. The food was excellent. They had great activities and fantastic facilities. We looked at a lot of other Assisted Living places and this was definitely the best overall value.

The Abbey is a very friendly facility and overall my Mom has received good care. I have had to be more involved in the process than I wanted to be, having to address medication issues, response times when pendant is pressed and efficiency of service. They have listened to my concerns and responded positively. They have had personnel changes with the Wellness Director and The Executive director who seem to be making positive changes. The staff in management areas are very easy to communicate with and are available by phone, text or email. The food seems adequate, but my mom does not have a lot of positive remarks. They are gradually renovating some units that are very nice. The caregivers have been fairly good overall, but we have heard plenty about shortage of staff per floor and poor pay. The Abbey seems to be in a state of change to improve efficiency. I am optimistic about rating this facility higher as systemic change occurs.

The location was very near my daughter and where we were staying. That was a big plus for us. We were very impressed with the director [name removed]. Ultimately we felt that our loved one would do better in our home town and get the same care at the assisted living focused care (not memory care) that he was receiving at The Abbey.

The Abbey Assisted Living facility was home to my mom for 10 years. Throughout her time, the staff and management provided fantastic care and very responsive. The facility has great AMENITIES, lots of activities, and entertainment for special holidays. I have visited most of the assisted living facilities in Houston and the Abbey far exceeds any other facility. They keep the Abbey updated and are constantly cleaning. The staff, from management, nurses, maintenance, wait staff, etc., are polite and very caring to residents and family.

They were friendly, a number of things were outside to get to like the gym. I didn't like that.
We moved here after Harvey. And we highly recommend the Abbey. The finishes are first class; from the crowns moldings, faux wood floors in public and stainless appliances. When anything needs attention all you have to do is make a maintenance request. The meals are wonderful. We are safe The Abbey Att and the Staff
People are very friendly. The food is very good. Maintenance takes care of any needs I have usually very minor.
There are many highly rated senior living communities in the Houston area, but I would like to share the wonderful experience we have had at The Abbey at Westminster Plaza and believe it is one of the greater communities in our area. My Dad moved into the Assisted Living community of The Abbey in Apr 2021 after living at the Independent community at The Abbey since Mar 2016. The dedicated and caring staff at the Assisted Living community took the time and made my Dad comfortable in the transition to Assisted Living. I found comfort and peace of mind knowing my Dad was well cared for and his needs were being met. The staff, the caregivers, nursing, dining, recreational and housekeeping staff were always, professional, kind and caring.. My Dad and I, have always been pleased with the accommodations, communication, nursing, security and the food, especially the food, at both communities is our reasons why The Abbey is one of the greater senior living communities in Houston.

After my mom passed away, my dad moved from their single family home to Independent Living at The Abbey and thoroughly enjoyed their wonderful chef-prepared meals, friendly residents and staff, activities and beautiful living environment. When my dad required additional assistance with daily tasks and medication reminders, it was easy to transition him to the Assisted Living building on the same property. I have extremely pleased with the staff at The Abbey ~ they are compassionate and knowledgeable. I offer my highest recommendation.

We moved my mother-in-law into The Abbey Westminster Plaza Assisted Living in December 2018. She had been living at home with full time caregivers, but had basically become home-bound, by choice. Although extremely reluctant to make this life-altering change, it has been exactly that for her. Life altering! She loves participating in the various activities, and thoroughly enjoys the dining room...both the cuisine and the company. And don't you even think about making her miss her daily BINGO game! Throughout the last 18 months of dealing with COVID, The Abbey has dealt with first, the mandatory lockdowns, then routine protocols and now, the resurgence of the Delta variant with compassion, grace, and patience. Our family is exceedingly grateful for The Abbey Westminster Plaza!

The Abbey is a pleasant place to live. The residents are friendly, always greeting one in the hallways. The residence is tastefully furnished and the food is varied and good. There are varied activities and physical activities offered.
Our Mom moved in to the assisted living side of the Abbey in May 2021. My mother and father had been living in a house on their own and between the two of them, friends and family managed to get by. With my father's passing it was time to make the move. In our search for a facility the Abbey came highly recommended from friends. We have not been disappointed. The Facility - the common areas are numerous, clean and nicely furnished. Mom's apartment is kept clean, is sufficiently large and is not confining at all - she actually likes it. She has had no complaints about the food. The food is plentiful. The Staff - without exception the staff is competent and pleasant. The level of staffing seems appropriate to the needs. The staff strives to get to know the residents. The Care - effectively managing Mom's medications was a major concern of ours. The nursing staff is "on top" of the medications. Extra efforts are taken to keep the residents engaged in activities.

We moved my father in law to The Abbey when he could no longer care for himself. I was more than impress with everyone’s level of care and concern. I would absolutely recommend you visit The Abbey before making any decision on where your loved one will reside. We were kept abreast of any changes or Cerberus regarding his health and well-being. The staff treats everyone with respect and dignity. The administration staff was amazing in working with us. They are all involved in residents well-being.

Moving a loved one into an assisted living facility is a very difficult time for a family, but the people at the Abbey made the process as easy and pleasant as possible. There is a family atmosphere and the staff is very professional and accommodating to the resident and family. My mother also tells me the food is good.
