At Brookdale Florence, you can receive individualized care and services to help you thrive throughout your golden years. Before you move in, Brookdale’s trained team members work with you one-on-one to learn about your precise care needs, health history, and general lifestyle preferences. For example, would you like assistance bathing before bed, managing your medications, eating during meals, or with something more specific? Here, residents receive flexible care plans that can be adjusted as needed. To promote safety for all, staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to be alerted to any emergency situation. An alert system and keypad entries are also used throughout the community to provide added peace of mind.
In addition to care and security, residents have access to a host of conveniences, like transportation assistance, postal services, and a beauty/barber shop. Nutritious, homemade meals are served daily, and residents’ tedious housekeeping chores, like cleaning and home maintenance, are also managed. We were looking for an assisted living place for my parents and took a tour of Brookdale Florence. The sales manager was so helpful and answered many of our questions. We were very impressed with the facility. The place was very clean and the staff seemed very attentive. Other circumstances have prevented us from making any changes right now but I am keeping Brookdale as a possible future option.

Brookdale Florence is a very warm and comforting assisted living facility. The people who work there are super friendly and extremely helpful. The always have activities going on either inside or outside for the residents and it is always decorated for the time of year. The residents can go on trips, have visits from local animals, movie nights, activity nights, baking/cooking, helping with the decorations etc...the list goes on and on (there is a monthly calendar with the events listed). I also enjoy when they have events that are welcomed to the public because you can see how happy it makes the residents as well as the people who attend the event. Brookdale is a great assisted living facility.

Brookdale Florence is such an inviting place to come and visit. All of the staff are always pleasant and make you feel welcome from the first moment you step in. My company helps provide the home health services here and they make it easy to do our job to the fullest. Whitney the director of nursing is the best, always greets you with a smile and you can tell how much she cares for all the residents. Thank you!

Not only is the staff loving and attentive towards my dad, the management regularly shows appreciation for the staff! It makes a huge difference when you enjoy where you work, and helps you approach even difficult days with goals to succeed! The changes in the dining menu have become a hit among the residents and families, as well as the increased trips outside of the facility. Their partnerships with the township, therapy animals and Veterans lodge for events are awesome additions to their fun-filled activity calendars! I would recommend this facility any day!

I toured this facility and it was wonderful! Caring and nice staff.
Overall it's a good place. I feel that my loved one is safe, and I believe they are doing heir best, although I think they're having some staffing shortages. My loved one complains to me that he's always hungry, but he also doesn't ask for more food, which I know he is allowed. When I talked to Brookdale about it, they told me all he has to do is ask, but he just won't. Some of the staff will automatically bring him more, but others won't. So I've been supplementing and bringing him groceries, which is frustrating. I think they're doing an excellent job with Covid precautions. To my knowledge, they have no cases at all, which is a plus. I just wish he would participate more instead of just stay to himself, especially for how expensive it is.

We had a lot of communication issues with Brookdale Florence. They did not answer the phone, door, etc. They had a big turnover with directors and staff and the COVID situation made things very difficult, but it was very frustrating when we couldn't visit or get someone to answer the phones. Overall, we did not have the best experience here.

Brookdale Florence is the friendliest assisted living I toured for my husband. The sales manager, [name removed], is especially complimentary and goes out of her way to make my husband's life enjoyable there. Most staff are also very nice, but sometimes my husband has to wait a while to get bathroom-related services. [Name removed], the on-site nurse, is also genially concerned about my husband's health. However, try to avoid being sent to Virtual Memorial Hospital at all cost because you would have to pay not only the basic rate to hold your room but also any service costs even though you or your loved one would not get to use any services at Brookdale while in a hospital. They told me they staff the services in advance - so they have to charge service costs during resident's hospitalization. I do not agree with their explanation because they had the same number of service staff even before my husband's moved in. My husband ended up dying at [removed] which is one of a few hospitals in NJ with an in-patient hospice unit ([removed]). I now question whether doctors at the hospital were too aggressive in their treatments and recommendations of a patient like my husband for hospice. Anyhow, I wish my husband had had a longer life so that he could have lived longer at Brookdale Florence which he liked.

This community is fair. Management is terrible at replying to emails and voice mail messages. For 6 months they did not have a housekeeper so staff had to pitch in to clean. Their maintenance man was fired for incompetent and unsafe work. They are understaffed, particularly on the weekends and overnight. They have some very nice and competent personnel but they have disappointed us greatly in their professionalism. Additionally, while my mother is in a different rehab facility, they insist on her paying for personal care services they are not delivering because she is NOT there! She is not been there for a month but they insist she has to pay for services. I understand paying the room rent of course, but they are not delivering ANY services to her.

This place is cozy and there are only 45 residents. I like the apartments because they are 2 rooms, bedroom and parlor with a kitchenette. The rooms on the inside perimeter each have a door to their own terrace in a central garden. The dining room has menus with 3 choices for each meal and the assistants are the servers. Plenty of different activities as well as monthly "Town Hall" meetings for the residents to discuss if there are4 any issues to be addressed.

I can't say enough about Brookdale Florence! The staff is friendly, attentive and professional. The atmosphere is that of a home, not a center. The facility is beautiful and clean, yet there is no institutional smell or feel. Top it off with fabulous food and activities and you have a winner!

They have done very well in caring for my loved one and getting her to participate in activities. The only concern i have is with the pricing, which is probably pretty high across the board. Overall though, we are satisfied with the care she is receiving.

We placed our Mom there last month, and we could not be more pleased than we are with the caring, professional staff and the beautiful facility itself. We visited many other places for Mom but none compared to Brookdale Florence. The place is well run.

Brookdale is great, it's a good place. The people are very nice. They have been good about responding to her needs and with the care. One person even went and bought a can of soup she wanted when she wasn't feeling like eating, because they were worried about her. They went above and beyond and really seem to care about her.

I researched several facilities before selecting Brookdale Florence. They automatically gave me their cell phone numbers and then visited my mother twice in her home to introduce themselves and make her feel welcome before she became a resident. Any place else, I had to leave a message and wait for a return call. One other facility manager told me that she would only meet with me for a tour on her schedule since all her apartments were full and she did not have to be flexible with her appointments. Brookdale however was extremely friendly! I met all of the staff members upon my first visit and they were great. When you walk into the facility, I felt very comfortable and welcomed. I knew that I could live there, so I knew my mother would be happy there too. Now she has moved in and nothing has changed. The whole staff is very involved and are genuine in their behavior toward the residents. Great choice!

Things have gone very well so far with Brookdale Florence. It's a small, very nice looking, well kept community. I like that due to its smaller size the residents get more individual attention and care. The staff have all been very friendly and attentive, and the residents seem comfortable. I would recommend it, if you are searching for care in the area.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Florence 9.2 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
