My mom spent over two years here. She paid for shower assistance twice a week and meds management. She had severe short-term memory loss and was legally blind. Although kind, Brookdale staff, with a few exceptions, don't treat residents as unique individuals. They often don't read menus to blind residents. They skip showers for residents with memory loss who don't want one "right now", although the resident doesn't understand that their next chance won't be for 3-4 days. They often don't notice behavior changes that indicate medical issues in people with dementia. Some activities that should be accessible with low vision are not. Facility maintenance is spotty. No cold water in rooms for a week, entry buzzer that malfunctions leaving residents who return after five waiting until they can flag someone down, and malfunctioning emergency alerts. If your loved one can't or won't advocate for their needs, I don't recommend this facility.

My loved one was a resident at Brookdale Federal Way for almost a year. The staff was very friendly, but the management with follow-through was terrible. I would not recommend this place for someone who needs to be checked up on frequently.
I felt that the staff was very caring during our experience here. The facility itself was a little older, but once we got in it did not bother us at all. The room sizes are very big and the facility overall was great. I would recommend Brookdale Federal Way to others looking.

Everyone is very friendly. The place could use a little updating. I think that my aunt is treated very nicely there.

It's been a great for my mom. They have activities that are some of the ones she used to enjoy before moving to the community. The staff are very good, friendly, and responsive. The meals and snacks are great and the offer a variety. I chose this community because the value and they offer the Medicaid spend down if she needs it one day. We looked at others, and chose this one. I would recommend this community. Shes made friends and seems content there. When COVID started they aggressively went into lock down to keep the residents safe. They are quick to call with any issues and there's good communication.

Brookdale Federal Way is a wonderful place and I will forever be grateful for the all the help they gave my mother. They have many caring people who go out of their way to assist people in need. It's a job most of us would run away from, but somehow they have they have managed to pull in some really wonderful caretakers.

Took a tour on Sat. the 29th and they were already full. My perception was that it would not of been a good fit anyway. It was small, old and felt like a nursing home. They were friendly and everyone looked well taken care of.

I love it here at Brookdale Federal Way. It is like one big family. There are lots of activities to choose from. And the staff makes you feel right at home. It is such a relief to have help with daily needs I had difficulty doing myself. At first I had not decided if I was going to stay long term but now after eight months I’m sold and I will be staying for the foreseeable future.

i'm totally disappointed in this place. I Dealt with Brookdale two and half years ago, and currently looking for a place for my Father. This is the last place you want to deal with. High pressure sales. Of course when your stressed and looking for a place for a Loved one. This group does not care about anything but a sale. the CEO makes 50 MILLION a year. His front door cost more than an entire stay at Brookdale. Shameful... Trying to get my sister-in-law into their place was unacceptable. She was in a rehabilitation place and when cleared , move to Brookdale. High Pressure and so called sales on the price,,,, NOT!!! My sister-in law died before she could move. $7900.00 dollars later, she dead so no refund, o yea they refunded $660.00. Big [removed] deal. She was never there, never ate, nothing. Compassion, none. Because 50 MILLION is not enough. GREED!!! I even paid for installation of cable in the room we were given. It was a model or a store room. Remebersted,, not even. To MR. CEO, you are Disgrace to the heath care system. Rip off the people who are hurting just o you can get a new door knob or what ever your to poor to get. keep going, your company is Terrible. I would do your job for a 100th of what you get excessively get paid. I'd do why better because you DON'T CARE. Hope your whole team are proud of themselves, 'cuz they are not even close to being good at their job. Be proud MR.CEO< you ripped off another person and their family. More money better stock price, helping people,,not on you or list of priorities or any of your staff. Ya it's just a review, and no one at brookdale cares,so I hope your able to get a new door knob. I will definitely will tell everyone I know. If I get One, Two, Or 50, to not do any business with brookdale or emirates.,that would be Great to cost you a few no takers. Have a wonderful life, and I HOPE the Worst for you and your family. Up Yours,, [name removed] [removed] Call !!!! You wont, to busy, don't care, and chicken. Have a nice day. Just let it slide, you wont even care.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed touring this facility and liked how it was run and the things and people we talked to while there. Sadly this is not a place for my mom because she needed a level of care they could not provide with her medical and dementia needs

I am not pleased with this location at all. If it had been up to me I would not have placed my mother here. My mom is not happy here at all she is not eating which as a result she has lost a tremendous loss of weight. My mom does not like to be around crowds so when she does eat she takes her meals in her room and there is an extra $5.00 charge for them to deliver her food. She is not taking her medication as she should be because from what I can tell they are not doing wellness checks on her they are leaving it up to her to take her pills and she has dementia so that is an issue. Since I am not my mother's medical power of attorney they do not tell me anything when I ask questions. They don't seem to engage the residents in any activities.

Brookdale in FW is not a safe place for my mom she has dementia . I know Brookdale has specialize assisted living for memory care & Dementia but not in Federal Way. I was told by an "supervisor there when my mom dementia gets worse she can no longer live there"? So why get comfortable there then have to move again ? If this is a professional organization they would want the best place for my mom. I'm working on getting my mom the best place to live without worrying that she would walk out that front door and get lost. It happens a lot with people with dementia . There should be alarm on the main door but there's not none.

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far everything is going great for her. She has made a smooth transition and is comfortable in her new living environment. She has had no complaints about the food and enjoys the activities from time to time. I would have to say my favorite thing about the facility is the fact that the staff are responsive and very good at communicating with the family.

I was not impressed with this community when we visited. The outside did not seem to be kept up. The residents seemed to be unhappy and this did not seem like an active community. The staff we met did not seem professional.

We did your Brookdale Federal Way. I thought it was a nice place, it was clean and the rooms seemed pretty large. The staff was all friendly and welcoming, your guide gave us good information.

My relative lives here. Since she moved in, I have observed that the food quality has gone downhill. The review about management being poor is "spot on". Promises are made, but seldom kept. Resident input is given lip service at best.

A Place for Mom has scored Brookdale Federal Way 6.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
