Brookdale Chanate

Improvements could be cleaning patient rooms better, especially the floor. However, yes I would recommend them to other families.

Overall the staff members at Brookdale Chanate seemed friendly was a little concerned about care but they were going through some transitions at that time so I cannot be certain now. I would say to meet with the director personally that was one of my issues at the time we kind of were handed off to other people at times

My loved one was previously a resident at Brookdale Chanate and the overall experience at this facility was great. However, ultimately, my loved one didn't feel that they could count on the medical assistance that was being provided.

They need a new ED. But overall it's ok. It was close to my house, within my budget and I could eat in the dining room with my loved one.

Based on the experience we have had so far with Brookdale Chanate and the reason we gave them a 2 is because they could improve pretty much on everything at the community

The staff is very friendly to my mom and to our family. They do take a serious interest in the care of the residents. However, it does appear that they are short staffed, since there is quite a delay in response times to emails/calls.

My mom has been a resident for several months now and overall its a terrific facility - good staff, safe, good meals, activities...just working through bumps on the business side...billing issues, scheduling of services, transportation issues. Nothing major.

All categories above get 5/5 stars. The main reason we chose Brookdale Chanate over other places we initially looked into was because of the hospitality of the staff as well as the residents. They have a perfect staff and a very welcoming community, my mom loves it there!

The staff were friendly for the most part, management was great, but the care givers seemed a bit over burdened at times by not responding to the call buzzer in a timely manor. With that being said they were having staffing problem while my mother was there she passed a short time later. We would recommend this community to other families depending on their loved ones needs and to make sure that they can accommodate their needs.

We really like the staff members overall they were pretty good to deal with - we did have a concern while our loved one was there that we actually witnessed a few times. Sometimes the staff members would not come when our loved one needed assistance which is why the overall rating received 4 stars. However overall our loved ones needs were met pretty well.

We have not been able to see the inside of the community, and we have not been able to see the meals ourselves but from speaking with our loved one they did not seem like they are a big fan of the food.

When I was looking, one of the things I noticed about Brookdale is that they are an all inclusive package. You do not get charged for individual things on top of the monthly amount which can make a big difference. The director sends updates regularly about what is going on inside the facility and the staff members on the floor are almost always available. They also are sending me pictures of things that he is participating in and he seems to really be enjoying the activities. I would absolutely recommend to others looking.

Do your homework, and make sure this is the right place. Ask lots of questions to make sure what you're looking for is what they can offer, and tour if you can. It's very difficult to say due to Covid. We weren't able to visit after move-in, except for outside visits, which were not pleasant during wintertime. But we did love the redwood trees all around, and the rustic setting. It's a nice yard. Our loved one said everyone there was wonderful. The few times we were in his room, we noticed trash wasn't emptied, and there was old food in the fridge. Although I don't know if that was even part of their job. Our loved one didn't care for any of the food and lost a lot of weight. They kept bringing the same thing when we asked them not to bring it and were not very accommodating about options We thought our loved one was going to be more independent as far as care needs, but in the end just needed more care than was available at Brookdale. We were sort of at odds with the head caregiver from the start. But we had a great relationship with the executive director , The main director was kind of elusive and has since then left. I wish they had tried harder, and I think I just expected more. I understand it's difficult during Covid. Aside from the food, our loved one had good things to say about the staff and felt well cared for.

I like this facility also and they have several care options available. I would recommend this community.

My wife and I are so grateful we found Brookdale, Chanate. We were searching for the right place for her aged mom, [name removed], to live, where she can receive the absolute best care possible. There is so much to say. First, the people who work there care deeply about the people who live there. When we met [name removed], we met someone who listened deeply, helped us solve any problem we could think of, and suggested solutions only after really understanding [name removed] needs. The tour she shared made us feel so comfortable with what life is like at BC. She was so thoughtful and considerate with helping us find a charming apt with a deck and outside area where [name removed] wee dog could get outside whenever she needed to. When [name removed] needs shifted, [name removed] found a special place for [name removed] in the memory care area, a bright, cheerful room, where she can look out at beautiful redwoods from anywhere in the apt. The attendants encourage her to engage with others and she feels quite at home there. When we met [name removed], the GM, we knew we had met an advocate who is very flexible and such a problem solver that literally nothing seems like a problem for long. We know we can go to him with anything and he will find a way to "make it so." He has been wonderful to [name removed] and us. When we worked with [name removed] to create [name removed] personal care plan, we trusted her thoughtful, comprehensive recommendation because it reflects just what [name removed]needs, nothing more, nothing less. Her recommendations helped us make decisions we are very comfortable with, decisions which get [name removed] just what she needs. Virtually everyone in the facility shines with a spirit that we did not see in other places. It is a spirit of love and focus on possibilities and what is best for [name removed]. We feel so lucky.

So far we are delighted with the Assisted Living portion of Brookdale Chanate. The facility is certainly the most beautiful Assisted Living place I've ever seen, and the staff has been amazing. The first thing that I noticed is that the place smelled pleasant, like a high-end hotel, not institutional at all. We ended up moving my Dad there just as the shelter-in-place orders for COVID-19 were coming down, so we unfortunately needed to show up earlier than we had planned. Everyone there scrambled to help us, despite also being EXTREMELY busy working to put piles of brand-new procedures into place. Here are the great things so far: everyone from the director [name removed], to [name removed] in sales, to the wellness coordinator [name removed], to [name removed]who handles facilities, and [name removed], the maintenance supervisor who helped with an emergency equipment issue, has been absolutely wonderful. [name removed]and [name removed] who assist in care have been pleasant and incredibly efficient. They've been helping my Dad get settled and solving problems for him. The other residents are friendly. His complaint is they staff is feeding him _too_ well. He used to live in the Valley in Southern California, so this beautiful building surrounded by redwoods and built into the side of a hill is a real (pleasant) change for him. I don't know what we would have done if he were stuck in So Cal and I was stuck in Nor Cal during the shelter-in-place order; I am incredibly grateful to Brookdale Chanate for being so helpful and accommodating.

If you are looking for senior independent or assisted living in Santa Rosa area, we had a fantastic experience at Brookdale Chanate. The staff and residents are very warm and friendly and the facility is charming. We arrived to an outdoor patio with comfy rocking chairs. [name removed], the executive director, said Brookdale would be holding barbecues there in the coming months. It will be a great area to relax and enjoy friends and family. [name removed] then escorted us to the dinning room, which is lovely, looking out on a wooded area. The food was delicious, fresh and not overcooked. Our waiter was attentive, made excellent suggestions and brought our food promptly. After lunch we went on the tour with [name removed], she's very knowledgeable, pointing out items of interest or telling us of activities to be enjoyed. We stopped at the library, small meeting room, pass laundry rooms and up 2 elevators to model apartments, The one bedrooms were a nice layout with kitchen, living room, bed, bath, lots of closet space and decks large enough to sit outside with friends.

[date removed] I am so grateful for all the help that Brookdale Chanate has given me and my family during my moms transition to their community. I think that your mom having an accident is probably the hardest thing that any family can go through, but when it happens during a flu epidemic, and you cannot be with her, there is really nothing harder in the world. Lisa Lomeli has been amazing through this whole thing and she has spent so much time answering all our many many questions and assisting us with the details, I cannot say enough about them, I totally recommend Brookdale Chanate for that anyone that needs Memory Care or Assisted Living for their loved one.

This tour was nice. The staff was very nice and helpful with all of our questions. The have alot of good variety of meals. I would recommend this to other families.

We were searching for a respite placement for my mother who is 102 years old--while we moved to Santa Rosa. Brookdale Chanate has provided a lovely space and friendly environment that fits our needs. Joan [Removed] has been an excellent contact and guide for all of us. The staff are helpful and professional. The facility is clean and attractive. Activities are planned and appropriate. There is a variety of food selection and an attractive dining room.The only other thing my mother would appreciate is someone who can plan euchre--her favorite Midwest card game. I would recommend Brookdale Chanate to individuals and families who need assisted living.
