The staff are as patient and caring as you could hope for. The activities staff are a blessing. [name removed] and [name removed] bring joy and purpose. The every-other-weekly visits from bunny rabbits (and their handlers) is priceless. But gradually losing your mental (and often physical) faculties is awful.

Ideal residence for loved ones suffering from dementia

What I like about Bridges is that the residents live in so-called houses. Within those houses the residents have freedom to move around and it's safe for them. It's designed very much like a home with a living room. Eating areas and bedrooms. My mother-in-law resides on the ground floor, which allows her to go outside in a very spacious and beautiful garden with pathways, vegetable garden, which the residents take care of, and she can go to the other house on the other side of the building from this common area. Bridges excels in nursing care, activities, and friendliness. There are always activities going on. They're well planned and appropriate for the residents. Also Bridges offers to accommodate families for functions, and even for visiting in that they will also cook for a family gathering that you can hold at the building. The food is very good, and they always give two choices every meal for the residents to select. Family members are allowed to take their loved ones out for the day or even overnight if needed. Bridges allows the freedom of movement for the residents in a very safe environment. I can't say enough good things about bridges by epic. My husband and I are very satisfied with our decision to move my mother-in-law there.

An excellent community for memory care.

Dad was only there a week before passing so I did not have a lot time for an in-depth assessment. The staff during the day were more helpful than the evening staff. I work full time so visited dad after work. I know there is less staff in the evenings and I was usually the only visitor, just made it a little more difficult for me to get updates. Overall I was very happy with Bridges and would recommend them.

Nothings better than being home, but this is a good second choice

No place is going to be perfect, but this is absolutely the best memory care facility I have found in the area. And they are a memory care only facility, which makes the difference. The food is wonderful, but serving can be a challenge at times due to resident care needs and their behaviors at times. But they do a good job. They also always have snacks and beverages available at all times. Communication with the family is very good. Housekeeping and laundry is once a week and they do a good job with those also. They have a really good variety of activities. They have at least 2 a day and have performers come in frequently. Med rounds are handled very well. They're organized and the nurse does a fantastic job. She's good about letting me know when over the counter items are getting low. I visit daily and it's close to home, which is great. They're great about letting mom know when outside services are coming for care needs. I also try to take mom out frequently to have a meal with her and they're very receptive to that, which is great. They have good security. They have 2 wings with 2 levels each, so levels are self contained. But they're great about bringing the residents together to mingle, also. Mom is so happy and active here. When she was home, she mostly chose to be bed ridden and wasn't hardly active at all. She's thriving here! They're also pet friendly, so I bring her dog with me when I visit and she loves that. I would recommend them to family and friends.

My review of Bridges by EPOCH

The whole facility is memory care, so there are no separate levels of care here. That is a plus so then people do not have to be locked up in one section of the facility. I would recommend them.

Every time we have gone, the place is spotless and they always having someone cleaning. The staff is very friendly. They pay a lot of attention to the residents and are very accommodating with their needs. They do a good job of keeping them involved as well. We do think Bridges is a little over priced.

They clean the resident rooms on an on going basis, rather than weekly. The rooms and common areas are always spotless. They are meticulous about how the community looks. The staff takes an integrated approach to the care of the residents. There are activities staff, care giving staff, the administrative staff all work together to give the best care. All of the staff knew each resident's name and made an effort to get to know them and the families personally. They treated my dad very well and were always respectful and polite. We did have one issue where they didn't honor our family doctor's request to not transport my father to hospital. With this said, it did not detract from our overall experience with the care that they gave. The care they provided was outstanding. We though they had a lot of good activities that involved families coming in for meals or outside entertainment like musicians. In looking at the schedule of activities, it seemed like some of the activities they had planned ended up just being TV time rather than an actual activity. When they did bring the residents off-community, they wouldn't always be able to take everyone. We did think Bridges was a good value for the price, especially given the level of care and attention they were providing to the residents. If you have a family member or loved one that needs memory care, we would definitely recommend Bridges over an assisted living community with a memory care floor. Bridges is built and trained for memory care top down and that leads to very complete, competent , and compassionate care. Even the food is prepared such that nothing is a choking hazard and they present each resident with each food option on a plate rather than just on a menu. They really do a good job of meeting the residents where they are. We felt safe and felt that dad was receiving very good care here. Family members were also welcome any time day or night.

Beware.

They did not take care of my wife. The staff had warned me that my wife would not be taken care of. They are understaffed. The layout of the community is ok, The food was ok. They did not supervise the staff. They would promise my wife would get certain care and then it would not be provided. They ran out of toilet paper. They let her eat with her hands and did not wash her hands. My wife had a hearing device and they did not make sure it was properly attached so it would work.

Not the best

Beautiful Living Environment however, the best staff seems to leave. There is such a high amount of staff that leaves and a lot of the great staff I have met have left since I placed my family member in this home. Also there is a lack of aids I have seen 3 aids taking care of more than one house hold. They should have more staff especially when taking care of a large group of individuals who suffer form Alzheimer's and Dementia. Disappointed.

Response from Bridges by EPOCH at Trumbull

July 18, 2018

Thank you for taking the time to review our community. We are very proud to have a compassionate and dedicated team of staff at Bridges by EPOCH at Trumbull, many of whom have been with us since we opened or shortly thereafter. That said, today's job market is tight and competitive, and many organizations are experiencing greater turnover. We work very hard to hire, train and retain valuable employees, but there are situations when it becomes apparent that someone isn't the right fit, and it's best for both parties that they pursue other opportunities. Ensuring that our residents receive exceptional care will always be our first priority, and we will continue to operate our community with that mission top of mind. We appreciate your feedback, and if you have other questions or concerns, we encourage you to call or come by. Our door is always open to you.

You can tell the facility is new

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mom. It was very nice and you could tell it was a new facility. However, it just didn’t seem like a great place for my Mom and her needs. While on my tour, I met a couple of the nurses and they were very nice. They gave me a pie after my tour and it was really good (it was still warm too). The building was very clean. There’s a big fireplace when you first walk in and it had a living room type of atmosphere. They had a few activities available and had Mass as well.

Very friendly staff!!

My husband was only at this community for a short time and I am sorry I put him in this place. He just really never was able to adjust to the new living environment and did not like being there at all. If I have any advice to anyone is to listen to them and make sure they are comfortable in there new home, if not do not make them stay. I will say the staff where always so friendly and every time my family went to visit they always spoke so highly of them. I do suggest maybe a little extra training for the caretakers on medical signs of a problems occurring.

?We're sorry to hear our community wasn't the right fit for your husband, and we understand. The comfort and support of our residents and families is so important to us, and the fit has to be right. And while we regularly receive positive feedback about our programs, staff and individualized care, many family members will tell you it took weeks for their loved one to adjust to their new living situation, and that this can be a difficult time for the entire family. We invite you to attend our monthly caregiver support group meetings (held at noon on the fourth Wednesday of the month), which provide a forum for caregivers and family members to share challenges, ideas and strategies. We also invite you to call us if there's any additional feedback you'd be willing to provide on how we could've improved your family's experience. We appreciate you taking the time to review our community and we hope to hear from you soon.

Highly Recommend!!

This is absolutely an amazing place and I could have not picked a better community for my mother to live in. They have gone above and beyond to meet the expectations my family had for them for my mother. She is very well taken care of and has an amazing apartment with lots of great amenities. The food is also a huge positive, the chef knocks it out of the park when it comes to his cooking. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone looking into a five star property for there loved one.

A pretty good community!

The staff helped my aunt the best they could during her short three week stay. I had good communication with them in regard to her care. They brought in hospice and did what they needed to do. This is a brand new community made up of four different houses called a neighborhood. I did not see a lot of activities during my visits. The price is a lot cheaper than other places in the area and I would recommend it.
