Very pleasantly, happily pleased!

I placed my 93-year-old father at Avista Senior Living in [date removed]. We needed to move my father from his home in California to Washington State. My husband and I looked at several assistant living communities . Once we walked into Avista Senior Community in Sumner WA, I knew right away that this was the place I wanted to place my dad. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was, and how welcoming it is. That is the first thing I look at. The next thing that convinced me was the staff. All the staff members are so friendly and caring. They treat my dad like a family member. They fuss over him and make him feel taken care of. We were able to come in early and customize his room with pictures and items from his home in California, before we moved him in. The staff always updates me with care and health routines and if I have any questions or concerns, they are quick to give me answers. I cannot be happier with the service and care that my dad has been receiving.... Read more

Great place!

The staff is Amazing! They take great care of my mother! The food is really good!. I would definitely recommend Avista Senior living. My mom has been there now two years . They keep her busy and activities. Specially, with her Alzheimer’s, they did track her when she is having a bad day.

It was not very clean, and I would not put my loved one in this community.

A Good Place to Live

Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful. It's clean and they will provide and walk you through all the information. They made it very easy for us, the people there are number 1 and that's what made the difference. My loved one has a studio where he has a bed with room for a table, a bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a kitchenette with a microwave & fridge. Housekeeping comes in daily to empty the trash, and check in on the bathroom. They also come in on a weekly basis to clean his linens and laundry, and to deep clean the space. Communication between the community and our family is very good. If I have any questions or if something comes up, they will notify me. Some of their activities include bingo, dominoes, arts, gardening & baking classes, and card games. They have puzzle stations setup in the hallway where you can sit and partake, as well as a computer center. They have just about anything you can do. They'll take you to certain doctor appointments on certain days; but its important to note that we've never used that service, so I'm unsure what they can and can't do regarding transportation. Overall I would recommend Franklin Place to others.

If you're looking for basic assistance, it's a good place. If you're looking for more, they don't provide as much.

They have low entry costs, but their points system will raise up the cost quickly. The care is pretty basic, and I would like to see more personal attention for the cost. The staff don't necessarily go out of their way to help or answer questions, although that depends on which shift (day, evening or weekend). The weekday shift is typically better.

a loving family home

the facility is very "home like"/ with a loving family feel. I feel like the staff are very compassionate and caring, it seems like a place that you'd want to live. they do offer transportation for doctor appointments once a week. the grocery store transportation may be delayed right now because of Covid. I've never personally attended any activities, but I did hear the residents having a lot of fun when I came to visit. I do believe that they are adequately staffed for the amount of residents they have there. they communicate via phone call on an "as needed basis". overall, I would recommend Franklin Place to others.

We were not impressed with Franklin Place. They were trying to remodel the facility, but the building is just old and it was dark and depressing.

A TERRIFIC place for my dad!

This is an AWESOME facility! My mom lived out the end of her life in 2 'other' facilities, and they were no where near as stellar as Franklin Place. Though I live in another state a whole day’s drive away, I just am so very happy with this wonderful, clean, calm facility, and the personable, trustworthy staff! My 88 yr old father (who still has all his mental/cognitive faculties) is very happy here; enjoys every staff member that does or has worked here (bright, positive people), the food, and the activities, and other residents, and in all, has actually improved in health and emotional state since being HERE. He just seems to be his best self now, and that is really 'big' for me. So, I dont intend to be moving him back to my own state as long as he keeps doing so well here. And this little town of Sumner is beautiful and peaceful , and I often entertain the thought of moving here myself. :-)

A Home Away From Home

I think because of the really good care she's receiving, my loved one's health has improved dramatically. It's a very calm place to be. One of the things that is most impressive is the friendliness of the workers. They're very good at what they do, very helpful to my loved one, and very pleasant and informative to me as a visitor. She says the food is just okay, but if she doesn't care for something, they usually accommodate her if they can. Their cost was a little lower than other places in the area, but the care is amazing. I've worked in the industry before, and It's the total package here. I can tell that the employees are happy, and that speaks very highly of itself.

The meals have been a bit of an issues, they are not the best. Sometimes they are very good and other times not so much, so there is no consistency. The residents at the facility are much older than our loved one so she is not really able to get involved with them. However, the communities value for cost is pretty affordable.

Small, Clean, and Friendly, But Could Use Improvement In Food

The community is nice and it is small. The staff is trying their hardest. There is a turnover in staff. The food is horrible. The most recent lock down was lifted in the last few days. The community goes on and off lock down due to the pandemic. Franklin Place doesn't have any activities for the residents to participate in. They are affordable for the family and residents.

[Name removed] was very nice and friendly. She answered all our questions and provided great information. The apartment floor plans were nice size and maximize the room layout very well. The facility is one story which is nice for people who can’t walk up/ down stairs or do not like using elevators. I gave this 3 stars because the is a small and older facility with only 48 apartments on the property.

A Place for Mom has scored Avista Sumner 8.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
