We were impressed with Avila Care the second we walked in the door. Had a very homelike feel. Fresh cooked meals, attentive staff, very clean - just overall very friendly. My mom stayed there for 10 days for respite care. It was an excellent experience! We highly recommend, and will use their services again if needed.... Read more

This community wasn't for us. This was not an option for our family member. There was staff interaction with the residents during the tour. It had more of a senior citizen home feel and not a homey feeling to us.
AvilaCare definitely did not have enough staff and the woman touring us was constantly having to tell the staff to go attend to different patients. It was obvious that the residents were not being watched properly. Also, when we walked in, there wasn't anyone there to greet us for quite a few minutes even though we had an appointment. In fact, we didn't even see any residents anywhere until the tour started.
Read MoreThey do a graduated level of care so they have a base rate and then based on what level of care the person needs- it goes up from there. They have 2 buildings, one is for assisted living and the other one is memory care/skilled nursing. We were really grateful for that aspect of it all. The staff were all so kind and caring, I was very impressed with them all. I look at things with a critical eye and I was so pleased with how the staff interacted with my husband. I was here every day and I made sure to build a personal relationship with them all and they gave him great care. The nursing supervisor here was so helpful to me with answering any questions that I had, she was more helpful than any doctor I had ever spoken to. Our experience overall was very good and I would recommend AvilaCare to other families looking.

It is a very nice and clean community. The people are very friendly. I've had a meal there and the food doesn't taste very good. The meals overall leave something to be desired. The community no longer has an activities director and they don't really have group activities so much.

It's a very clean place. The staff is very caring and friendly, and very attuned to each individual's needs. They do work with you in terms of trying to solve issues, and they provide help with getting extra services, such as PT/OT/doctor visits. They don't really have activities, and they don't have an activity director. So if you want a place with lots of activities, you'd have to go someplace else. They have mostly puzzles, and there's a nice outside area where you can go listen to a babbling brook. But the residents are mostly on their own to occupy themselves. The CNAs have expressed that they really want to be doing activities with the residents. It's just a matter of getting a program in place. My loved one likes the food, but I didn't really care for it. It tends to be lukewarm, and they've served some vegetables that aren't to my taste, like cooked spinach and cooked yams. They're getting better with the cooking though, and the food is It is getting better. It's definitely an evolving community. It's a pretty new establishment, and because of that, they're still figuring some things out. The manager, the RN's, and the CNAs are all exceptional. They do have a lot of turnover with the other staff, but I think that's just the way things are right now during Covid times. But my loved one loves it here, and the other residents I've talked to are glad they're here as well. I've been very pleased.

We chose Goodlife because it is a smaller community therefore we did not feel like she got lost in the shuffle as much and we had more impact on her care. I really liked the way they handled everything and we were always very involved. The manager and the nurse here make the whole place. I would absolutely recommend them.

I was a "hands on" caregiver. DETERMINED of take care of my mother myself. After 7 years I was exhausted. I knew there had to be another way. After trying in home care givers, and another facility, someone suggested the new facility in Heath, Tx. As all new places it had growing pains in the beginning, but when [name removed] came on as the Director everything begin to fall into place. The final piece to the puzzle came to Good Life when [name removed] was hired to be the resident RN. With their help a care team was assembled for mom. Now, After 10 years, I can be a daughter and trust that my mother is in the best hands that I can give her. I am very thankful for Good Life and the excellent care she receives.

My father was a resident in Good Life. I can tell you that without any doubt or hesitation that Good Life provided the best care, facilities, and staff to care for my dad. [name removed] along with many others at Good Life provided support, smiles, and care not only to our loved one, but to the entire family. I whole hardheartedly recommend this facility and staff for anyone seeking care for a family member.

My dad was At Good Life for one year. He just passed away 2 weeks ago. The Administrators and staff took excellent care of him and treated him so special. I just feel like they cared for him like family. The Administrator, [name removed], had compassion for him. I only met him once but it was obvious over the phone how much he cared about my dad. Also, whenever i called, the staff were more than happy to take the phone to my dad to let me talk with him. I would recommend Good Life to anyone seeking a care facility.

From the beginning, travel and photography have been her passion in life. From treks in Nepal to the highest base camps on Mt. Everest to the most remote jungle areas of the Yucatan where the local Indians do not welcome outsiders. Then journeys on to Morocco, Egypt, Spain and a vast amount of time in the southern Caribbean, Peru and South America. These travels are the vey fiber of what makes her unique. Then to finally realize that it is time to rest and to find santuary at Good Life Senior Living where it has the comfort of home and the staff is very kind and compassionate. It is the perfect ending to this chapter of a very full life. Now on to the next adventure. We want thank [name removed] and all the staff at Good Life. It is a blessing for them to be a part of our family.

My husband moved in on [date removed] and due to the Covid 19 restrictions, the facility had to close to all visitors on [date removed]. The staff at GoodLife has done an amazing job of staying in contact with family and facilitating window visits and FaceTime calls. The food has been great and they make an effort to find foods that are appetizing to each resident. I have a camera in my husband’s room and have found the caregivers are caring, kind and respectful as they help my husband with his personal needs. All in all, I have been very please with the care he gets on a daily basis.
