My husband and I live here and we are very happy. We were looking for a place that would feel like home, not an institution. The little touches mattered to us - the pretty lace curtains in the mail room, the carpeting throughout the building, and the beautiful paintings on the wall. We could tell that the staff truly cared about us and they wanted to help in any way they could ... We were no bother to them. Our Welcome Couple took us under their wing and introduced us to residents and staff and answered all our questions. We were looking for three things: beautiful surroundings that made us feel comfortable, onsite religious events, and balanced nutritious food. We found all of these things here. With all of the trees and their gorgeous fall colors, it was like our own private arboretum. The onsite museum is a bonus. Most modern buildings are sterile on the inside with parking on all four sides. We enjoy the pond, the walking path and the gazebo. The greenhouse is a plus.... Read more

Communication with all of the staff at Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini Village is easy, they are responsive. The facility is very clean, grounds are well maintained. Suggestions for improvement: more effort to get the residents to interact outside of meal time; should enhance workout, gym, physical exercise area; and wi-fi should be included. It's a nice facility overall, my family is happy with our choice. I would recommend Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini Village to others.

Our mom lived at Casa for six years until she needed more care than could be provided. She loved it! She had many friends and opportunities for a full life. The staff was kind and caring. The cost was so reasonable and her apartment was lovely. We have nothing but praise for her experience at Casa. We feel fortunate to have found such a great place for our mother!

Oh, they seem pretty organized the maintenance man who provided the tour wasn’t able to respond to questions, about leasing and such. On the other hand, he was able to show us all the facilities and explain the groups/clubs that are available to the residents.

I would give 5 's for all. My friend has really thrived there. She is on the welcoming committee for new residents and resident rep for their in house council. A Place for Mom was very helpful in getting her there. I am very grateful. There is easy access from surrounding Chicago areas- highways major streets. Lots of local support for seniors- Northlake offers multiple events to residents free of charge. Lots of local eating.

Ascension Living Casa seems to be an overall caring experience for the residents while still maintaining their independence. We would absolutely recommend this community to other families looking for a place for their loved ones

The independent living is wonderful. The facility is nice. They've had some bumps in the road since Acension took over but that seems to be getting better now. The neighborhood is okay. Not great. But not terrible. I would recommend to other families.

I felt the residence was very clean and her unit was newly remodeled. She was able to chose carpet over laminate flooring and also the color paint for her walls which made it more her own. It is catholic affiliated and the care is taken very personally. The cost was half if not more than half of what other residences were charging. It was a win win for us. They have care on premises if she needs any additional services. Very comfortable and caring environment.

My family and loved one have had a good experience overall with Ascension Living. I would recommend you inquire about any COVID quarantine practices they may have still in place, specific care such as nursing assistance with medications, and more. Ask about payment plans, if needed, what activities are offered for the residents and are these extra-curricular or standard. Also, what are the evacuation policies and safety plans should the community have to use them. As a reminder, feel free to ask as many questions as you want until you are satisfied, and make sure you continue to ask the staff questions throughout your loved one staying in the community.

Our family had an in person tour and we really liked the place, our loved one really liked the grounds and the scenery. The lady who gave the tour was really helpful and nice. However they just did not have the 3 meals a day and that was something we wanted for our love done.
Not suitable for my needs and my loved ones needs. This was not an independent living facility and they offered more services than we really needed for our loved one at the time. This was not as new of a building either as the facility that we choose for our loved one. The staff were nice it just wasn't the fit for us.
I couldn't go see our loved one, but it seems like they were well cared for. The independent living was well maintained, and the room was very nice. If care needs escalate, they have an add-on service on site to provide help for an additional fee. The Director of Sales works well with people. She makes a smooth entry process, is very friendly and professional. She explains things well and gives you a tour of the facility. She's a great resource for Casa Scalabrini Village.

This is a wonderful place. My parents moved to Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini (INDEPENDENT LIVING side) Village in [date removed] and never looked back or even missed their home for one second. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely professional. You can get most any amenities or services you need onsite or they will gladly bring in one of their many partner agencies. Unfortunately my father passed away at the golden age of 90 on [date removed] and I couldn't think of a better place for my mother to live, especially now without my father. Mom plays poker with her friends, goes on casino bus trips, and other various outings. The food is excellent and plentiful! They handled the COVID19 pandemic with such safety and grace always with the residents at the forefront of their words and actions. If you have a loved one (s) or you yourself are looking for a place to call home, look no further. They have exercise classes, bingo, jacuzzi, health club, physical therapy, occupational therapy, billiards, darts, cards, game room, outings, parties, picnics...reserve an appointment today and see for yourself! Not only are my parents, now my mother, happy, I have extreme peace of mind that she is well taken care of?! God bless??

When i first moved in everyone was very friendly, but after awhile the staff became less friendly and more about business. Some activities they had were trivia, arts and crafts year long, and during the holidays like Christmas and Easter they would have sing a longs. The food they served was okay, it would be about a three out of five.

It is amazing. During the COVID situation, they have been proactive. The community has only had three cases since March, and those cases have recovered. My loved one seems happy, and enjoys the food. The food is delivered to The community is a beautiful. They have a wonderful restaurant on premises. My loved one's apartment was renovated right before they moved in. The community cleans once a month for free for the residents. They do offer religious services for residents. The community offers services for you to choose from for a fee.

Response from Ascension Living Casa Scalabrini Village
December 19, 2018I'm so happy you enjoyed your visit to Casa; thank you for your wonderful comments!
I was impressed from the first moment I stepped inside the door. The tour that [Name removed] provided further added to my positive view. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, clean and lends no sense of "retirement" home feeling. The apartments are nice and the free laundry rooms on each floor are an added plus. I got the chance to speak with some current residents who gave rave reviews, unsolicited. On site personal care companies/services were also a huge plus, if needed. The dining room was lovely and the green house and outside space provide for a nice get away... on site. Reserved parking spot also a bonus! If money wasn't a consideration, I would have signed on the dotted line immediately. Unfortunately, being a private pay site, my parent's funds would run out in about 7 years' time. Having said that, this is not an overpriced facility for what you get... especially when comparing others. It is simply our reality of minimal assets. I would recommend this lovely "Casa" to anyone.

I wanted to take a moment to highly recommend [name removed] and the folks at Casa San Carlo. As much as it ended up that my grandmother had to go into long-term nursing care to receive 24-hour attention, Casa San Carlo was not only the place where she wanted to be more than anything, but [name removed] help, kindness, and personal interest in meeting with my grandmother to see what we could do was above and beyond the call. Again, if it weren't for my grandmother's situation changing, she would be at Casa San Carlo not just for what the facility has to offer, but for the clear, sincere care that people like [name removed] have for their residents.

May 4, 2018Thank you so much for your kind words; they mean the world! I loved meeting with your grandmother! Truly, I'm grateful to have met her and so glad that you found a place that better fit her needs. Again, thank you!
Perfect, close to my house, within my price range for a 2br. Large rooms, perfect space for mom. Next step is to get her out here to see it. I think she will love it. Plus they have a Month of March move in special.
