Despite living in the shadow of Dallas and Fort Worth, there’s still plenty going on in Plano that you never have to leave! The city is noted for its many parks and green spaces, including the Bob Woodruff and Oak Point Nature Preserve parks – two park spaces covering an area of over 800 acres and connected by bike trails. Every September, Oak Point Park hosts the Plano Balloon Festival, a hot air balloon celebration and fundraising event which has been in operation for 40 years, featuring live music, fireworks, and skydivers.

The Interurban Railway Museum, formerly Plano Station of the Texas Electric Railway, is a train station built in 1908 in Mission Revival-style architecture which has since been turned into a museum. The site includes an authentic restored Texas Electric Railway car as well as exhibits from the station’s past. Plano’s Heritage Farmstead Museum, a Victorian farmhouse built in 1891, functions as a living museum open to the public and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
