Wonderful owner - true to every work - faithful in her walk!

[name removed] the owner was so responsive, diligent and pleasant to work with. There were four of us sisters that took care of my mom and we were over there taking turns every night for two years. Any request we ever had [name removed]accommodated and worked with us. The two times that we complained about some of the help she responsively acted on it quickly to resolve it as sisters, we were reluctant to put mama anywhere because we knew that we were going to be a big part of taking care of her and we also knew that that might cause conflict with wherever we put her long-term but [name removed]really came through and worked with us. We were able to put our own personal cameras in my moms room. We were able to bring our nieces and nephews to visit my mom. We were able to bring food and also eat with the guest in the living room. We were a big part of visiting them as well over the two years. We were also able to bring our pets to visit mama because she loved animals. These little things are what makes the difference and why I believe that mama lived two years while being in the home, when most people told us in the beginning that most people only live about 3 to 6 months. And lastly, I'll say that [name removed]traveled home to our home state in Mississippi on the gulf coast to attend my mom's funeral when she did pass and was with us the whole time while mama passed in the hospital and it was so touching for our family. My mom has nine sisters, and there's four of us girls that we took your mama so all of these nuances made a difference in what was one of the hardest things that we had to go through in our life. I would recommend to anyone placing their parents or 11 one in[name removed]hands. When I tell you that we were a big part of going over to see mama at anytime day or night if I want to stay the night, [name removed]would accommodate when I tell you that she really truly wants you to feel at home like it's your home she really did.... Joyful Living is a Blessing

We viewed about 10 places, and researched a lot more than that. We had very high standards for our loved one's care, and Joyful Living has totally impressed us with that, which we were not expecting. [name removed], who runs the place, has done everything she said she was going to do. They're changing our loved one often. And they have not once been busted on anything when we come to visit. We got lucky finding them.

Bertha’s care home

This home is by far the best small group home my mom has been in. Warm loving care givers with activities for seniors with memory loss. Total care for reasonable price.

This Assisted Living Agency is Superb!!! Picked Over Many Others & GREAT Decision

Choosing a place to live once I was dependent on others was a very scary thing. It took due diligence, unannounced visits and spending time with staff. Bertha's Care Home stood out to me as a great, safe and clean haven with caring staff. After spending about 6 months making my decision on where to live, I realized that I was comparing all other agencies to what I had experienced at Bertha's Care Home. I have lived here now for 5-6 months and I continue to thank God and all of the wonderful people who assisted me in my decision making because I believe this is the model group homes should emulate. The quality of loving staff & transparent administration I have found here is unmatched. I am unique because I used to supervise group homes before retiring and I know if the daily operations are smooth and patient-centered. Wow, from coffee being made with my Kuerig and sitting by my bed when I wake up every morning to great, home-cooked meals all day long to just getting help with changing into my pajamas at night and waking up with an additional blanket added to my bed to ensure I am warm when staff come in at 3 am, I can only be thankful and spread the news that this facility is exceptional!!! If you or a loved one needs care, I would say to run, not walk and get in line if there is a waiting list!! You will be thrilled that you did!

A gift from God

This place and these amazing people were my saving grace! They helped care for my grandmother for the last 6 months of her life. She was treated so poorly at many other places, but the caregivers here truly treated her with dignity, respect and love. I knew I didn’t have to worry about her care anymore. I will forever be grateful and only wish there were more places with caregivers that treat elderly people the way they should be treated. Love them all so much!!

A Place for Mom has scored Joyful Assisted Living Home of Allen 9 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.

We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.

Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score.
