We moved out after 2 days. They gave him the wrong medication multiple times and never responded to calls for help in the night. Medication- no excuse! Night help- before I moved him in I was told someone would always be awake and available. One person was working and she was sleeping x because she had to work the next day! Horrible management.

It is a beautiful facility. It is kept clean. It is quiet. If your loved one just needs a nice place to age in place and has minimal health challenges and not a need to be overly social, it might be the right place. However, if your family member has complicated medical needs and/or high social needs, this would not work. The amount of activity is minimal. The medical knowledge is minimal and the staff is not proactive when medical issues arise. There is a communication challenge with most of the staff, the staff changes often, and the staff sleeps on sight so are not easily available overnight unless you provide a doorbell for them to use for your family member. The family member is safe and the staff are respectful. The food was not as tasteful as expected.

Silver Leaf was a horrible experience. I moved dad out after 2 days. They gave him the wrong medication and did not give medication he was supposed to get. When I questioned them about the wrong medication given, their response was to look at the two bottles of medication and say "oh, they are both yellow". I was told they would always have staff awake 24/7 to provide assistance. Not true, staff went to bed in a bunk between 9-10 and would not wake to help my father even with his help alarms going off.

My mom lives here and receives the greatest care. From the staff they treat her like family!
both of my parents lived at this community at separate times. wouldn't have changed anything.
my mother ultimately chose a larger community. I was very impressed with both the facility and the staff.
tremendous staff! my mother in law is extremely well cared for.
community is always clean and cared for. the staff seem to really enjoy caring for all the seniors.
My mom has never been so happy. Staff meet her needs and one always welcoming.
The Silver Leaf team has taken excellent care of my sister.
Response from Silver Leaf Assisted Living at Appalachian Way
December 16, 2021Brian - thanks for the review. We look forward to continuing to provide her excellent service.
I would highly recommend Allegro. This place is much better then his previous community. They only have 6 residents. When we do see him he is clean and happy. They are good with communication and always answer and question of concern we may have.

This has been a new experience for my mom. The staff is caring and attentive for her. We like the community. My mom is not happy with meals at this time, but they are making improvements. They do have some activities that have been offered for her to participate. We would recommend this community for the great care for a loved one

A Place for Mom has scored Silver Leaf Assisted Living at Appalachian Way 6.5 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
