Assisted Living
The Harbor Chase of South Portland is very knowledgeable about residents with dementia and how to handle them. They walk you through the process and explain how it works. The housekeeping and laundry are done once a week for the residents. Excellent service and great staff! [Name removed] is awesome to talk to about any issues and very quick with an answer. The food is very good and each resident has $750 to spend on food every month that is incorporated in the cost of Assisted Living. Also, there is a plan called Sound that you can put in place for people with dementia issues. It helps them with dealing with dementia issues and keeps their mind occupied to help them. I would highly recommend The Harbor Chase of South Portland to anyone who has a parent going through these problems like dementia. Everything is included, which helps us incredibly!
They did try to take good care of my loved one. They offered daily activities and the community was clean. The food was good. My loved one was only there for a short time as we realized he needed more care than they were able to provide. They oversold themselves on the care that was available. They gave out incorrect information in regard to some programs that may have been available. I would recommend asking about the security at this community.
So far it has been a great fit for my mom at the Stroudwater Lodge. It is a new and beautiful community. It is the first one we toured and it had everything we needed. It is very convenient for my mom to get to her nearby Dr. appointments. Most of the time the communication is pretty good with staff members when I have questions or concerns regarding my mom's care needs. The staff takes good care of her and her care needs. The food is well-balanced but mom has special dietary needs and they are working with me so that she can get the proper nutrition. At this time mom is not able to participate in activities, but there is a resident nearby that they have become friends due to a shared family member. I would recommend Stroudwater Lodge to friends and family.
