Assisted Living
We explored a number of options, and was very impressed with the proffesionalism at Veranda. I am glad we made this choice, for my loved one.
The staff are very, very kind and interested in the residents. They give 5-star service. They're also very interested in interacting with the families, and they welcome the families to come visit. If they have any staff shortages, the administrators will even fill in. They have great communication with emails and phone calls. And the food is quite good.
This is all based on my observation since my loved one has dementia and can't give me her feedback. When I've been there, it's always really clean and doesn't have any bad odors. It always smells good. The care has all been good. The staff have been really friendly and helpful. They keep the residents active, and they all take part in different projects and activities. The other places that we looked at were on the higher end of the cost spectrum, and they would raise their rates each year. Whereas at this one, that's not the case. The rates stay the same pretty much and are not raised on a schedule. They've been shut down on and off because of Covid, but they're really careful about taking precautions. If anyone comes down with a positive test, they make sure they shut it down for a couple of weeks. And they don't reopen for visiting until they're sure that there are no more positive results, which I really appreciate.
