Public assistance is available through Medicaid 1915(c) waiver programs and through the non-Medicaid state-funded Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders. This type of community is required to offer a number of services. These include wellness counseling, delegation of supervision of self-administered medications, health promotion, and resident teaching. Staff members obtain training in a variety of fields. These areas include assisted living philosophy, 6 hours of annual in-service continuing education on topics, 10-hour orientation, and aides must pass a competency exam.
