Brookdale Gables Farmington

Moving my mom over to Brookdale was a very smooth transition. The communication with staff was excellent and they made my mom feel very welcomed. We asked for a couple of things to be done in the apartment before move in and they followed through with our requests. My mom is enjoying the meals and getting to know the other residents. The staff at the front desk is always pleasant and helpful if we have questions. This time can be very stressful for both family and resident but we were made to feel very welcomed and cared for.. A+ Brookdale, Farmington.

My loved one is currently a resident at Brookdale Gables Farmington. The experience continues to be phenomenal. All of her needs are met with the utmost of care and professionalism. I would recommend Brookdale Gables Farmington to others.

They have a nice location, it is a bigger more active community. Care has been good, wish they offer a bit more of a personal touch, encourage my dad a bit more to do things and offer events that include the families. But my dad likes to keep to himself so....Overall we r happy with this community.

The best feature is the friendliness of both residents and staff. It is really like a family! The setting of the facility is without parallel! The lake and the grounds. The facility itself is older, so there are occasional breakdowns, but the staff are most accommodating.

Prior experience while it was known as The Gables where my mother was a resident.Other high points include but not limited to...Exploratory interview was professional, accommodating and informational specific.The facility grounds and internal space is lovely and inviting while offering programs, great meals and pleasant residents.Maintenace kitchen and cleaning team are super, prompt and professional.Medical team (nurses and aides) are available as needed. Staff and resident affords both inclusiveness and discretion as it pertains to engagement and resident privacy.A wonderful and success ful program and living facility for my mother, friend and aunt.I should note that my initial and subsequent meeting with you was wonderful, gave hope for a safe and productive environment for my friend.

Most disappointed having e oriented a year or more of Brookdale living vs sales and marketing statements . Staff turn over is exhaustive , which is causing extreme fluctuations in services delivered. The food is horrible , statements made seem to evolve over time , if ever true . Lots of billing errors as sales / administration don’t coordinate contracts with financial area . Recent erroneous monies drawn from resident’s account have yet to be reimbursed since [date removed]. Advised it’ll take 30 days and now in day 33 awaiting the return of over $[removed]. Suggest you eat there before signing and don’t allow access to your bank account for payment .

2019 we found this place & it was run by a different ED, maybe that's it, IDK. My mother was invited to be in independent living then, an ok apartment, good enough, nothing fancy, some activities, pretty environment. Back then, we asked about her mild cognitive impairment & how we might move forward through care levels as needed. We were promised that my mother wouldn't have to move, could "age in place," & that supports could be provided at an affordable rate as her needs increased. Now, not sure why really, but we are being shaken down by the new ED who sent us an email at 8pm last night saying my mother must leave or they will call protective services on us if we do not take her out or add a costly (? how much ?) 24x7 caregiver from their preapproved list by noon today. My mother has never eloped, is not a wandering risk, has no toileting/bathing needs. So much more about this facility/mgt that has been a problem in the past year or 2 not enough space in this review-do not go there!

I felt this community had a good active social senior community that would keep my loved one busy and stimulated. I also felt having a full kitchen would make them feel independent even though they have used it once and has no intention of using it again. But the building is big and can be over overwhelming.

No cap on monthly increases. We know someone who got a 13% increase and then you need a 30 day notice if you want to leave. Contract contradictory, management will give you a verbal agreement and then renege. Contract is drafted to confuse those not familiar with binding contracts. Avoid any Brookdale.

Brookdale Gables Farmington is a very dated facility and mediocre "bells & whistles" compared to some other local options. But good value for the square footage in the apartment. It is in a beautiful, quiet setting off of the main road. Convenient to stores, etc.

The staff are very friendly, but stressed because they often seem to be running understaffed. Of everything, housekeeping is the worst. The bare minimum is done. For example, dusting is not done, and vacuuming only the middle of the living room and bedroom are done and they never move chairs and vacuum under. Part of housekeeping is to wash and change the sheets and do personal laundry weekly. Overall, they do a good job. I am considered an Assisted Living resident, so not sure what is happening with Independent Living residents. They allow pets here and are really wonderful toward my pup. Communication is very good with the family as they are immediately notified when there is a fall or concern. The meals are good in general, but breakfast and lunch provide the same choices, and it gets old. More healthy choices need to be offered, like whole grain breads and yogurt with fruit. In general, dinner is quite good and they are accommodating to residents' requests when possible. The dining room over looking the water, and the 400 acres with wide paved paths around the large picturesque pond is beautiful, and makes a big difference in the feel of the place. They put out tables with umbrellas on a patio overlooking the water in nice weather. The geese and ducks provide entertainment. I would recommend Brookdale Gables since I toured other facilities, and with no where to walk or feel peaceful, they cannot offer what Brookdale Gables does. I believe with residents being encouraged to find their voice, positive change can happen.

They are awesome. They do a nice job with the activites. We are very happy with, the value for the money. It's been great. The caregivers are amazing. I would reccomend to other families.

Brookdale has been a "great" place for my wife and myself over these past two years. I even recommend a couple I have known for over 50 years and they in turn also recommend friends of their own.

Our expectations were all a 5,but my brother died. Before we could move him to the community so we have no real experience.

We chose this place because it offers "age in place" living, has a full kitchen, goods sized rooms, and great food. When we got here we found all of this and excellent, caring staff as well.

When I first came here 3 years ago, I would have rated everything a 5. It was great! Since the pandemic & vaccinating, the dining room has gone down hill continuously. The food is not heart healthy. A lot of training is needed for all staff especially the dining room and all around.

The senior community would benefit from a visible presence of various directors aside from formal gatherings Way to assertive. New residents are seated at dinner-meal time. Often they are at a booth. Finally A/C jerking increased numbers of able residents not turn over.

Overall I have enjoyed living at Brookdale as an IL Resident, for the past six years I have always been treated with kindness and respect by our staff who two years ago were experienced, capable and dedicated to our needs. However some new hires seem to be inexperienced and poorly trained. Causing low morale among the residents. The phone desk is not always covered by an experienced concierge on the plus side we were well taken care of during the pandemic. I often say to new residents. "This is a good place to live" and I mean it.
