Regency Retirement Village - Jackson

My parents are doing so well here in the memory care. The staff makes sure that they take part in the activities, and join them in the dining room and my parents like the food. They have a very nice room together and I know that my parents are safe and that the memory care is well secured. My father had walked out of another community so that has become a real concern for me but here I know that he is safe. I would definitely recommend scheduling a tour of this community.

West Tennessee Skilled Nursing in Jackson, TN

My grandmother was here for care from the hospital. She loved it and so did the family. All the nurses and therapist were caring and friendly. My Grandmother can be a bit of a handful at times, but the employees continued to help and care for her without hesitation. Transitional care isn't like a nursing home , they are trying to TRANSITION the patient from 24/7 hospital care to going home and living independently as possible. So they "made" my grandmother start doing things on her own (like she would at home) but with close by assistance. I would use West Tennessee Transitional again if the need arises.

Brookdale Jackson Oaks
4.0

Most individuals in memory care at Brookdale show a gentleness toward the patients. They serve the meals in a respectful manner and seek to make it an enjoyable experience. Meal time is important for it brings everyone together and there can be some communication that goes on. Although many patients sleep a lot, it would be good to have designated activities in the morning and afternoon. There hasn’t been much thus far. Will see with the new Activities Director. Would be nice to show more wholesome tv programs & not just Netflix.

They are short handed all of the time. They do not have the time to give you the attention you may need. Solstice is not right for us, but might be for someone else.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that provides residence to two or more seniors who have no familial relation to the administrator. A nursing home facility provides its occupants with around-the-clock care by registered nurses. These nurses provide maintenance, personal care and other health related services for those who are unable to care for their needs.

This type of facility is a convenient and comfortable living choice for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will often allow persons 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types.Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, a professionallly directed program of activities, pharmaceutical services, and dietary services to residents. Many occupants of nursing homes may have behavioral issues. These can consist of resisting care, verbal outbursts, or a tendency to wander. Some services come at an extra cost which can include personal reading materials, flowers and plants, and specially prepared food. The most frequent mental disease effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their memory function, and their sense of familiarity with their surroundings, and decision making capabilities. Examples of care services and amenities offered at nursing homes might include social and recreational activities, help with legal questions, help with shopping and transportation, and patient and caregiver education.
