Good decision

We weren’t sure at first what to expect, but they have gone above and beyond. If we had a concern, they were right there to help. We really appreciate the dining room as she doesn’t have to shop, cook, or cleanup. They do laundry and light housekeeping which is all she needs. Mom loves it there. At 96, it keeps her busy!... My Man Cared For

Most individuals in memory care at Brookdale show a gentleness toward the patients. They serve the meals in a respectful manner and seek to make it an enjoyable experience. Meal time is important for it brings everyone together and there can be some communication that goes on. Although many patients sleep a lot, it would be good to have designated activities in the morning and afternoon. There hasn’t been much thus far. Will see with the new Activities Director. Would be nice to show more wholesome tv programs & not just Netflix.

definitely does not deserve 9.0 rating

Forced to pay for amenities that you do not want. Also, I can’t believe that said maintenance is on top of things that is definitely not true. Pipes busted maintenance. Didn’t have a clue what to do. Had to fight to get a licensed plumber to come out and fix it was a hot mess Management does not care at all and that is the worst part the paying this outlandish price for things that you don’t want you are still forced to pay for cost way too much to live at this place oh, and also, staff is definitely not friendly. I would not recommend anybody moving in here and I am shocked at the rating of this place.

Peace of Mind

My father lives in Independent Living. He does have Alzheimer's but doesn't need memory care yet. He is well cared for and the staff is very good to him. Maintenance requests are completed promptly. He has help with meds and that gives us peace of mind.

It feels like home

Brookdale Jackson Oaks has independent living and assisted care in the same building, which is very useful for what my mom needs. If needs to transition she can stay right here with her friends. If she needs to go to assisted living, it's in the same community. The staff are excellent, very nice and informative. They have a whole bunch of activities and my mom goes to quite a few of them. I would recommend Brookdale Jackson Oaks to others!

Great place for loved ones

We really liked the overlook of the community and the staff have been nothing less then welcoming. They have been so helpful, accommodating and responsive since our loved moved in, they just gave us a great feeling from the get go. The only reason the meals and dining services get a 4 out of 5 is because they don't really have any alternative food options for those with dietary restrictions it is all pretty much generic meals. We would absolutely recommend this community to other families looking for a place for their loved ones

The people around him have treated him with respect

From what we are being told our loved one is eating very well there, so we have to assume the food is very good. The room our loved one is in is just the right size for him, and everything is easily accessible. Also he is able to have his own space and own privacy.

Deceived

I would be looking at other communities. My loved one is unhappy here. They don't give enough food to my loved one. The staff doesn't seem to care. I received a response to my addressing the concerns of my loved one that my loved one could move out of the community. There aren't enough vegetables with the meals. It is a lot of starches.

We have been very happy with our experience so far, the meals are really good and even with the recent snow we have had this community has kept our loved one warm. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, they have done a good job so far.

Not a Place For Your Loved

My loved one was able to play bingo. I would tell people to stay away from here as far as possible. The community didn't help my loved one knowing what they served for meals. I feel they only care about taking your money, and then don't care about the residents. The staff ended up bringing in COVID to the community. The community didn't have any sympathy for the residents or the families of the residents. My loved one thought it was awful. I would recommend looking at smaller print on the contract. My loved one never got their money back after their stay. If I could I would give them a negative review and sue them.

I DO NOT recommend Brookdale Jackson Oaks

They are so nice and so accommodating to get you to move in. When you are in then they forget about you. At first my mom moved into independent living and was told a buddy would be given to her to help her and to show her around but it never happened. She just sat in her room and did nothing. She couldn't even get out to eat because she was still in a wheelchair from a broken hip. So, we moved her to assisted living because she was losing weight and not doing well. It was a little better. They missed a couple of her first meals but eventually started taking her to her meals so she was feeling a little better, being around other people, and she gained some of her weight back. They gave her a per month price of $2465 and charged $3480 per month when they sent the bill. We went ahead and sent in the $2465 payment for 2 months and contacted two people there that the bill was wrong. We were told someone from billing would call us but no one ever called us back. They just sent a new bill with a $250 late fee. Are you kidding? $250 late fee and for your mistake? Really? I don't know what to do. No one will help. I don't know if they have too many patients and not enough staff or what the problem is with this place but it's been more than disappointing when you pay that kind of money hoping that your mom will be taken care and no one cares and then they over charge and sending a late fee charge of $250 is just past my understanding of taking advantage of the elderly. They should be ashamed. Mom fell there a week ago and has been in the hospital and not a soul there has called to check on her. I would not recommend Brookdale Jackson Oaks to anyone. It's all about making money to them. They don't care about your mom or dad. They'll take your money though and charge you more than your contract states and no one will fix it. I'm so extremely disappointed in this place. I wish there was a good place for mom to go when she gets out of Spire.
