Everything is going well for my mother since her move to this community. She is doing well, and I'am pleased with all they have done for us. This community is working out pretty well for us, and it is a good place with kind people.

St. Joseph of the Pines, a CCRC in Southern Pines, NC
4.0

We cannot comment on the activities because our loved one did not participate in them. Of course more CNA and care givers is an area of improvement. Of course, I no that at this time it is difficult to hire staff, but at that price staffing should be adequate . We have had to hire additional caregivers to cover her care. The staff is friendly to the residents and family and appear to want to help. Based on our experience we would recommend St. Joseph of the Pines to the families.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that provides lodging to two or more persons who have no family ties to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its inhabitants around-the-clock care by on-site nurses. These nurses provide specialized care for those who cannot take care of their needs.

Nursing homes can be a convenient and comfortable living option for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will commonly accept persons 55 and above (a rarity in the realm of senior care).Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, room and bed maintenance services, a professionallly directed program of activities, and specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability) to residents. The most common mental issue experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their decision making capacities, and familiarity, and memory recall. A large portion of nursing home residents are individuals who experience difficulty seeing and hearing, require assistance with daily tasks such as getting dressed, have a physical or mental disability, or have incontinence issues. Many residents of nursing homes may have behavioral problems, which can consist of resisting care, a tendency to wander, or verbal outbursts. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, spend time with visitors, be free from abuse and neglect, and have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge.
