Clark Meadows in Canandaigua, NY

My loved one has her own nice apartment in the assisted living section of this community. She worked with the physical therapy department for a short time and has improved so much. They offer healthy meals and she is enjoying it there. This community is combined with the independent community. The two areas can interact together with the daily activities and in the summer they offer outside concerts for the residents and the whole town. She is well taken care of and I would recommend this community.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is an establishment that houses at least two seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its residents around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers provide maintenance, personal care and other health related services for seniors who are unable to properly take care of their needs.

This type of facility is a helpful and comfortable care choice for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will routinely admit persons 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. Some services come at an extra cost which can include cosmetic and grooming items, personal comfort items, and special care services not included in the facility’s Medicaid payment. The most common mental condition experienced by residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their memory recall, and familiarity with their surroundings, and decision making capacities. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, get proper medical care, spend time with visitors, and form or participate in resident groups. Nursing homes are required to provide medically-related social services, emergency dental services, dietary services, and routine personal hygiene items to residents. Examples of amenities and servicesoffered at nursing homes can include bill pay, 24-hour emergency care, social and recreational activities, and care coordination and case management.
