Response from Manor Hills
March 28, 2024Thank you so much for your kind words. We strive for the best quality of life for our residents and are so glad you are able to see that with your loved one.
My mom has lived in Manor Hills for a little over 1 year. Has a double room which she pays out of pocket. I have had to talk to too many people about getting her sheets changed, her bathroom cleaned and her main living area cleaned. The turnover of workers gives me an idea on why things don't get done. What's the reason for this? It must go back to the owner. I'm pretty sure there's not an RN in the building, not many LPN's. Just low paid aides. The food is the most unhealthy and awful food you could give them. Every week there's hot dogs at least twice. 1 day was grilled cheese with soup for dinner. Soup was crossed off. So, just grilled cheese. Pretty sure wasn't real cheese. Their hairdresser left months ago. Hasn't been replaced. Fingernails and toenails don't get touched. My mom is supposed to read the calendar to know when things are going on. She doesn't even remember there's a calendar there. The owner just wants the rooms filled. Not taken care of.

Response from Manor Hills
March 28, 2024I am sorry that you have that view of our community and would like to talk to you directly about your experience. I would like to mention that we have not had much turnover at all within the last year and thankfully have lots of longevity with our staff (a case manager that has been there over 18 years is an example along with several other aides and staff that have been there several years). We do housekeeping on a weekly basis and I would be happy to chat with you if you feel your Mom needs more than that to add something in. In terms of dining, we provide lots of options for our residents including fresh fruits and vegetables and mostly make everything in house. I would be happy to talk to you about your Mom's specific dining requests to see what we can put in place for her. We do have a hairdresser on site currently as well however did have a small gap in when our old hairdresser left and our new one started. I would be happy to go over the specifics of that with you. We have two LPN's in the building and there is a nurse on call 24/7. Regulations prevent us from cutting our residents toe nails which is why we have a podiatrist that comes in monthly. We do file the residents finger nails when we do manicures as an activity. Speaking of activities, each resident is provided a monthly activities calendar however we do have folks that need reminders so we do go room to room to gather up our residents for each activity. Please email me directly at Ginger.McGehee@WillowRidgeseniorliving.com so we can set up a time to chat and I can address your concerns or any questions you may have.
We chose Manor Hills because of the close proximity to our home as well as the value for the money. Sometimes it has been hard to get a hold of the administrative staff. Overall its been a good experience and I would recommend them.

A Place for Mom has scored Manor Hills 6 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
