Golden Horizons of Sandstone

Overall we have been very pleased with the staff and their care services. We do not have first hand experience with the meals and dining service, but we feel what is being served is appropriate. It may not be as many home cooked meals as we would like but overall they food looks good. The activities are still somewhat limited. We do think the value for cost is good and we would absolutely recommend the Golden Horizon's community to other families

The community was very easy to work with and very accommodating. Very nice staff, knowledgeable. Communication was fine, meals were offered 3 meals a day, no special diet options, choices if you wanted something else.

I would recommend the facility with some caveats. The caregivers vary somewhat in their cheerfulness/niceness, but most were pretty good. The housekeeping seemed quite good. We didn't have to move our dad in...

Nursing Homes

A nursing home provides room and board to at least two individuals who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home facility offers its occupants 24-hour care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers provide personal care, maintenance and other health related services for seniors who are unable to adequately take care of their needs due to mental or physical conditions, including age.

This type of facility is a helpful and easy care choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will usually accept individuals 55 and greater seldomheard of in senior care regarding other care types.A large number of inhabitants tend to be single women with circles of support, and almost fifty percent of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Some services come at an extra cost which can include flowers and plants, personal reading materials, and special care services not included in the facility’s Medicaid payment. Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, routine personal hygiene items, emergency dental services, and dietary services to residents. The most frequent mental issue effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their and their sense of familiarity, memory recall, and decision making capabilities. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be treated with respect, get information on services and fees, have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, and be free from restraints.
