We really like the nursing staff and the manager, our only complaint we have about the place is over the weekends there are no regular staff members. The rooms are nice, and our loved ones thing the food is good.

I'm glad I put my mom here. For the most part, the staff is friendly, helpful, and kind. I really truly love the day nurse, we've gotten very close. I can call/text her at any time and she always responds. She keeps me informed and updated on mom. I visit often and I'm able to get in anytime, day or night, which I really like. It's secured, but accessible. As far as the food, the do try. My mom is on a puree diet and it's been somewhat of a challenge. For instance, instead of real eggs they used powdered eggs. Mom doesn't care for them and some of the other puree items. I would suggest more/improved puree diet options. The chef doesn't speak English, so it's hard to communicate with her about it. But I do love her, she's wonderful. They have a lot of activities and an organized schedule posted for them, my mom just chooses not to participate. But I've seen them going on and they have a lot of residents that do participate. This is the most affordable facility in the area, I did extensive research during my search. Their rate is the lowest within a 50 mile radius. Housekeeping is on top of things all the time, it looks like they do it 24/7. They also shower and change bed linens twice a week. Overall, they do provide pretty darn good care here. I would absolutely recommend this facility to family and friends. When it's my turn, this is where I want to be.

The Windsor of Lawrence
5.0

My sister relocated from Phoenix two months ago. I felt responsible in selecting a new “home” for her in Lawrence. The Windsor of Lawrence was a perfect choice. It’s in a lovely residential area., one story and only 60 rooms. Her window in her apartment looks over a beautiful enclosed area with a pavilion, Many residents spend time outside enjoying the view and visiting with friends. My sister lives it because she watches the turtles and residents’ small dogs. After living in the desert, she is delighted with all the greenery. The staff is great and it is hard to call her because she is always “out”- exercising, or being engaged in some type of activity. She is happy- and I feel so relieved. I highly recommend Windsor Place. Oh- and she enjoys all of her meals.. it is wonderful knowing my sister is well taken care of, and is happy.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a community that offers residence to at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These caregivers offer personal care, maintenance and other health related services for seniors who are unable to adequately take care of their needs.

This type of community is a helpful and comfortable living choice for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will usually take in persons 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, a professionallly directed program of activities, dietary services, and pharmaceutical services to residents. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment, personal comfort items, and specially prepared food. Many inhabitants tend to be single women with smaller social support groups, and almost half of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. The most frequent mental issue effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their and familiarity with their surroundings, decision making abilities, and memory recall. Often times persons might decide to live in a nursing home over another type of community due to a mental or physical condition that prevents them from easily accomplishing the activities of daily living.
