Boyson Heights Senior Living in Cedar Rapids, IA

The staff is very easy to work with. They treat our father with respect and seem to really care about him. We can call anytime and get any questions answered. His room is always clean. We had his 90th birthday family party at the facility, which worked out wonderfully. We would definitely recommend Boyson Heights.

I would recommend if the person had severe dementia, they are very friendly the only complaint she has is that the food is not very good.

Moved in day one! No regrets. I'm not interested in facade and opulence. All I need is kindness and respect. Showered with both here.

Anamosa, Iowa

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a community that houses at least two seniors who have no personal relation to the administrator. This type of complex provides its inhabitants with 24-hour care by registered nurses. These nurses provide care for seniors who cannot care for themselves.

This type of community is a convenient and comfortable living choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will routinely admit individuals 55 and older which is uncommon for other senior care types. Nursing homes are required to provide nursing and related services, pharmaceutical services, emergency dental services, and specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability) to residents. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to be free from discrimination, get proper privacy, property, and living arrangements, get information on services and fees, and to manage your money. The most common mental disease effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their and familiarity with their surroundings, decision making capacities, and memory function. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal clothing, personal comfort items, and cosmetic and grooming items. A significant number of nursing home residents are seniors who have a physical or mental disability, have incontinence issues, require assistance with daily tasks such as walking, or experience difficulty with hearing and seeing.
