I had to dust and clean cobwebs and blinds. No activities for my mom who is vision impaired.I would recommend to others.

The staff is very easy to work with. They treat our father with respect and seem to really care about him. We can call anytime and get any questions answered. His room is always clean. We had his 90th birthday family party at the facility, which worked out wonderfully. We would definitely recommend Boyson Heights.

The overall experience gets a 1 because the care was why I had her there and it was sub par. They did not know she was assisted and not independent, I had to tell the about 3 weeks in. She was invited in an outing because she was not helped into the van. That injury became infected. She went on one outing advertised as a scenic drive but it was really a visitation for a resident who died . She did not get a shower for 2 weeks and no one noticed until I figured it out I found 1 part time nurse who was good and tried to correct the problems for me but she did not stay there long. The dining was nice and good, overall pretty good. The activities were good for people who were independent. The value for cost is was reasonable but the care was so terrible it wasn't worth staying there. I had a list of issues that I compiled while I was there. When we left I discussed them with the executive director and she was uninterested. In addition she also said that if you're on assisted care they are not legally bound to check on you. They do not have to do daily checks. I started that Friday but got a call saying my mom had fallen and broke her hip.

The facility is very new and clean. It's in a nice part of town close to healthcare, personal services and shopping. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend Boyson Heights. Compared to other facilities in Cedar Rapids, I think this is the top choice for independent living.

Boyson Heights is great. Such an easy transition. They have been very proactive with our loved one's care. Even set their clocks forward for time change.?? We are very pleased with our loved one's living situation and the care they are receiving. It's a wonderful community.

The reasons we chose Boyson Heights for our loved one was the community itself - it is really bright and cheery and the staff members have been great. the apartment rooms are really nice and based on our experience we would recommend them to other families.

I was not impressed at all with the tour at Boyson Heights. The person who led the tour did a very poor job - I don’t think she was their regular tour guide. She didn't have any printed materials to give us. She just walked us around. The other thing that really turned me off was you had to walk 4 feet into the bathroom to get to the light switch to turn it on, which is a hazard for seniors needing assistance. The facility was all brand new and sparkly, but we were not impressed with the other aspects.
They have been amazing and I have had no complaints. We went with Boyson Heights because it was a newer facility and it was a great value for what they offered. For the first couple of weeks they kept a close eye on things and adjusted the level of care based off of what they saw which was very helpful.. They have been very good with communication to our family as well.

It's a really bright, open, fresh place. They were really helpful when Mom didn't want to move, and have been helpful with her transition. She is now experiencing a a heath issue, and they've been on top of checking her vitals and keeping in contact with our family. It's a great deal as well. She's getting assisted living for what she was paying for independent living at a different facility.

Beautiful place. That’s the ONLY good thing about this place. Constant staff turnover. TERRIBLE food! It was filled with salt, unhealthy, and some was completely inedible. Worst thing however is the two times my Mother pushed the emergency call button she was told to wear around her neck and NOBODY CAME while she laid on the floor for hours! Do NOT put your loved ones here!

This has been a really good experience. We highly recommend Boyson Heights to others for their loved ones, and already have. This has been the best choice for our loved one and overall. This has been a good fit and size for my loved one. The staff, meals, amenities, and more all stand out to me and this give the family peace knowing our loved one is here. They have made to order breakfast at specified times. Lunches and dinner are at specified times and it is what is on the menu; however, if the resident doesn't like what is being served they can ask for a sandwich or hamburger. The portions seemed to be too big for my loved one; so the community offered smaller portions to them. All day they have snacks available for the residents to choose from. There is a wide array of activities. There is a Facebook page that the community posts pictures of the residents participating in different activities. Exercise classes, field trips, happy hour, bingo, and more are some of the activities for the residents to choose from. The community provides a listing of activities each morning to the residents.

Assisted living is good but I would look elsewhere for memory care section. They offer a lot of activities but I am not super impressed. I think they could be improved. The food isn't great in the memory care area. The food comes cold and lower quality than the assisted living side. We have dealt with a lot of small issues. The caregivers could be more caring all around.

Our tour at Boyson Heights was great. It was a newer facility and very nice. The apartments were nice but very small. All meals were included, as well as cleaning. It was just too expensive for what Mom needed. If we could have afforded it and if the apartment were bigger, we would have liked to have gone here.
Our loved one moved in the day after the opened and so far we are having a great experience. Boyson Heights is cheaper then a lot of other communities we looked at. The meals plans were better, and overall they just had the best amenities. Our loved ones are really enjoying the food and they have great activities. She is playing bingo, board games, painting and loving the exercise classes.

A Place for Mom has scored Boyson Heights Senior Living 9.1 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
