The Oaks - Carrollton
5.0

The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the residents - They don't have to go refer to a chart, the minute I walk in they all have an update. They are very kind. They actually know each and every resident and their family. They go the extra mile and will call if they feel like something needs to be addressed. The Oaks is a fabulous place and families are making the absolute right choice by going there.

They have a level of care cost. I went in expecting one cost, and then it was raised, so I did not care for that. Also my mom was difficult, and they treated her as such, which I did not appreciate.

I'm very satisfied with the care being given. The apartments is comfortable. I would recommend this community to other families.

We liked the staff especially the nurses. We liked the security and the outdoor spaces available for the residents. Too expensive for care received.

Franklin, Georgia

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that offers lodging to at least two persons who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. This type of establishment provides its residents with care by on-site nurses. These nurses provide maintenance, personal care and other health related services for people who cannot properly care for themselves.

Nursing homes can be a familiar and comfortable care choice for individuals 65 years or older, however nursing homes will usually accept individuals 55 and older (a rarity in the realm of senior care). The most common mental condition effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can cloud their memory function, and familiarity, and decision making capabilities. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal comfort items, personal reading materials, and a private room, unless medically needed. A large portion of nursing home residents are individuals who experience difficulty with hearing and seeing, require assistance with daily tasks such as bathing, have a physical or mental disability, or have incontinence issues. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, medically-related social services, specialized rehabilitative services (treatment for mental illness or intellectual disability), and pharmaceutical services to residents. Many occupants of nursing homes might have behavioral difficulties. These can consist of verbal outbursts, resisting assistance, or a tendency to wander.
