September 17, 2024Hi there, Thank you for your feedback! We're glad to hear you appreciated our staff and facilities. We strive to provide quality care and understand that cost can be a concern. Your insights are valuable as we continue to improve our services. Thank you again for taking the time to leave this feedback.
Public areas are well maintained. Clients rooms are neglected. They do occasionally run a mop over the main traffic area if the room. Under the bed (hospital twin) is always dirty. I do not believe they have ever mopped the Bathroom floor. I bought cleaning supplies and clean his room a minimum of once a week. I clean the toilet, shower and vanity. For the most part the caregivers are very nice. After the first six months the turnover rate was astonishing. Administration [name removed] is brash. They said they would help him shower every other day. As a rule he showers once a week unless I handle it. On four occasions after speaking with him on his phone after business hours, I called to ask for someone to check on him. My call was answered by their Memory Care staff who said they would pass on my concerns to the assisted living side. I had to go to the facility on each of these occasions myself. I did call once and was able to speak with the correct staff. The food tastes good. The meats are always dry and over cooked. They do NOT prepare diabetic meals and serve him sweet tea a sugar desserts. That is in the administration not the chef. The activities are lame and not designed for people with their limitations. Hearing and limited mobility mostly. There is no attempt to have residence participate. They are given a copy of monthly activities at the first of the month and participation is on them. Most have declined memory and are not able to attend without some assistance. This may not be a fair rating as I have nothing to compare to. I feel that [fee removed]/month is high. Caregiver staff has no training on how to manage a catheter or how to manage clients special needs. He has dementia but it isn't advanced. They let him stay in bed until 10 or 11. I can only assume it is easier for them. He always misses breakfast. I would not and will not recommend Laurel Glen to anyone with a family member who is not capable of 90% of caring for themselves.

August 16, 2024I have met with the Managers this morning and read your review and concerns. Additional training will be implemented for staff and you should see an improvement very quickly.
I have had a hard time understanding the culture here and bringing in new ideas and expanding our lives. Basically easier and less stressful to take it comes and just adjust to the routine. Best to take what you are given and this is moderate to good care. Affordable and all the staff and administrators are just employed. Not owners. I prefer to make no further comment's regarding employees. It is average to moderate care and staff and on- site administrators.

July 29, 2024Thanks for the great review Cindi! We are so happy to hear our team at Laurel Glen at Carrollton Senior Living has provided such attentive care, and your review is greatly appreciated.
No major complaints. The facility is clean and well kept. They keep my husband’s clothes clean. The staff is pleasant and attentive to the residents. The activities director seems to be well liked and does her best to engage everyone. I am not sure if they have activities in the afternoon and evening but think this would benefit most of the residents, especially due to sundowning. My husband has complained that the food although good is seldom hot. They have a small court yard but it has little shade and in the summer months it’s too hot thus the residents spend little time outside. It would be nice if the resident were able to spend more time outside and might help with their disposition. The biggest complaint I have is with the pharmacy they use, Guardian. They seem to be expensive and since the cost of the facility is expensive adding costly drugs makes it more expensive. Hope this helps.

The overall experience so far has been great. Laurel Glen is a very nice place that doesn't smell like a nursing home and everyone is very nice. When it comes to the activities they keep our loved one very busy. As far as value for cost is very expensive but all facilities are.

October 19, 2023Hi there, We are happy to hear our staff are providing a friendly and warm environment for your loved one. Thank you for taking time to share your experience.
Patience is important in dealing with the world of corporately owned for profit Nursing and Senior Living Facilities, especially for the middle to upper middle income brackets. Lower middle and below would not have the options of Senior Living unless Medicaid paid their care. So all types of care are out there, especially if you have options based on your financial situation. Laurel Glen at Carrollton is comfortable and safe and is part of the community that I have lived in for 40 years and it's older and been here for many many years. I am comfortable in their care, it's the perfect place for me.

I was not very impressed with Laurel Glen during our tour. The facility looked very institutional, it just had that typical nursing home "feel" when you walked in.
I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. There is no other community I would recommend currently. The community is secure and your must be let into or out of the community by a staff member. The staff is very nice, considerate, and helpful.

Loved the location. The staff and residents we met were all friendly and this would be a great community to live in. The menu and the activity calendar are varied and perfect for seniors. The independent living accommodations are a bit dated and may be for more active seniors as there are no benches in the showers and the doorways are narrow. Another negative for my parents is the walk from the apartment to the community areas for dining, activities, etc. as they are in a separate building.

We toured this community and it was a very nice facility. The tour was really good but they did not have the type of memory care that our loved ones needed so the community didn't fit our needs.

May 5, 2021Thank you for sharing. We wish you the best in finding the perfect place for your loved ones and will pass your kudos to our team.
We have no complaints when it comes to how clean the community is, and the staff members are friendly. For the most part we thought they had good food, and thought they offered a good amount of activities. The value is reasonable. The lady who runs the memory care unit is wonderful, always ready for whatever questions we have and very attentive.

February 12, 2021Thank you for sharing. We'll pass your feedback to our management team.
I would encourage others who are looking into Cottage Landing to visually see the actual apartment that they will be renting and that they go over it with someone in management to point out the things that are not acceptable and have it in writing. The things that are given to them information wise prior to moving in need to be discussed and carried out. We were told we had a choice between laminate flooring and carpet, we went with laminate and it is a cheap vinyl rug. There were quite a few discrepancies. We pay for 3 meals per day, we have a weekly menu on a 5-6 week rotation. We average being able to eat 2 meals a week off that schedule. They were not prepared for us. It has not been a very positive experience

October 1, 2020Thank you for your feedback. We're proud of the senior lifestyle and living environment we provide here at Cottage Landing and make every effort to be transparent during the sales process, encouraging seniors and families to tour their actual apartments whenever possible. We're sorry you have felt your experience in our community has not lived up to your expectations. When issues arise, we pride ourselves on rectifying the situation as quickly as possible. We often go as far as to replace fixtures, appliances, and finishes to satisfy our residents' needs. We also welcome an in-person conversation about your dining experiences. Please reach out to me directly and we will schedule a time that is convenient for you. Sincerely, David Denton, Executive Director of Cottage Landing Senior Living
As far as I know, the community is usually clean. All the staff pitches in, no one has ever said, "no that's not my job". The executive director was there during Thanksgiving helping and if we call and ask a question, someone will get you an answer without any complaints or push-back. My dad does have some memory issues and sometimes has indicated previously that it does take a minute for the staff to respond to his alert button. They do offer activities like bingo available for the residents to participate in, although my father doesn't always engage because of his own personal situation. We do feel Cottage Landing is mostly a good value for the price. We have been very happy with them so far and feel my father is in the best place he can be.

June 26, 2020Thank you for sharing your experience with our community. We use all feedback both positive and constructive to make Cottage Landing a great place to live. We're happy to hear you feel our staff is responsive, even when there are concerns. Thank you again for writing.
My parents resided at Cottage Landing for a number of years. They started out in a large 1 room until a 1 bedroom, living room kitchen was available. Following my Father’s death, my Mom moved into a 1 room w/bath. Later, she moved in with another Senior, thinking they would enjoy each other’s company. Overall, the experience was a good one. They accommodated my out of the box ideas, like a surprise anniversary dinner for them in a private space, with a personal chef, and dinner entertainment by a violinist and vocalist. And, the time my Mom wanted my 11 year old grandson, who toured with the Atlanta Boy Choir, to give a vocal concert for residents. I hired a professional piano accompanist and the concert was enjoyed by all. And, the times my Mom wanted to have a yard sale...whew, but, again, the staff was more than willing to assist. I was routinely contacted any time one of them fell, or had to go to the ER. The medical personnel was terrific. They took such good care of my parents, including mtgs. to keep me updated on changes to their health. When I moved out of state, I was unable to visit as frequently, and they were even more diligent in keeping me informed. Had I thought about moving Mom closer to me? Yes, but due to her declining health, we were advised not to make a change in her residence. As in all facilities, such as these, there were occasional problems, but that was to be expected. The worst for us was my Mom’s wedding ring being lost. Broke my heart, but I don’t believe Mom was too distressed by it, as she had already entered the dementia stage. Would I recommend this Assisted Living facility to others? Yes, I would and have!

June 3, 2020Kathy-- We so appreciate you sharing your experience with other families. Your parents were an important part of our Cottage Landing family, and are greatly missed. We loved the special events we were able to create for and with your mother. It's families like yours that make our community what it is. We wish you and yours only the best.
Dirty carpet. Smelly. Rooms looked really dated. In the halls the lighting was poor. Only had 2 one bedroom apartments so it could be a long time before one becomes available. Large private and semi-private rooms do not have kitchenettes and refrigerator or microwave is not provided in these rooms. Complementary cookies were excellent though.
