My brother was a resident at Windchime of Chico and everything was great for him. I am so grateful for the care that he received at this facility.

Prestige Assisted Living at Oroville

This facility has been pretty adequate. The staff are very friendly. Housekeeping is provided and is pretty thorough, they keep my loved one's room pretty clean. Communication with the family is good. Overall, they're doing their best. One thing I would mention is that I feel like my loved one doesn't get enough activity to keep him busy. They used to take him over to the Assisted Living side to participate in activities, but they haven't been doing that lately. I'm a little bit disappointed with that. I don't have anything to compare to, so I'm not sure if I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a building that houses at least two seniors who have no personal relation to the administrator. A nursing home community provides its residents with around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These nurses provide specialized care for seniors who are unable to properly take care of their needs.

This type of community is a convenient and comfy care alternative for persons 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often accept persons 55 and greater which is uncommon for other senior care types. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to exercise your rights as a U.S. citizen, be free from discrimination, be free from restraints, and form or participate in resident groups. Nursing homes are required to provide medically-related social services, pharmaceutical services, dietary services, and routine personal hygiene items to residents. The most frequent mental disease effecting residents of nursing homes is dementia, which can hinder their decision making abilities, and familiarity, and memory function. Types of amenities and services provided at nursing homes might include skilled nursing or medical care, personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance), adult day services , and home care (like cooking, cleaning, or help with other daily activities). There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include flowers and plants, personal reading materials, and special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment.
