White Sands, a CCRC in La Jolla, CA
5.0 / 5.0

White Sands facility has everything from independent living to skilled nursing. They have a lot of activities to offer, it is in a really beautiful location. We could not be happier with our decision, we know our mother is safe there. The food is excellent with a wide range of choices. The rooms are very nice and adequate, they have many options to choose from. Our loved one has a beautiful view.

Crest View Manor, Inc. in Escondido, CA
5.0 / 5.0

My mom really liked Crest View Manor. It has a great staff and is very clean. I would definitely recommend Crest View Manor to anyone. They were great. Unfortunately my mom was there during Covid, so there wasn't too much activities taking place. But it was a great facility.

Sun and Sea in Imperial Beach, CA
5.0 / 5.0

The people here are really friendly, and the place is very pretty. They have a lovely garden outside. We came and had a little tour, spoke to the people, and they were very helpful and informative. My dad is a hospice patient and they do an excellent job with him and made the transition a very smooth one.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home community provides residence to two or more seniors who are not related by blood or by marriage to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its inhabitants around-the-clock care administered by registered nurses. These caregivers offer care for seniors who cannot care for themselves due to their aging.

Nursing homes are a helpful and comfy living option for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will admit persons 55 and above which is unusual for other senior care types. A large number of occupants are single women who have circles of support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include personal clothing, personal reading materials, and special care services not included in the community’s Medicaid payment. The most common mental disease experienced by nursing home residents is dementia, which can hinder their memory recall, decision making capacities, and and their sense of familiarity. As a resident of a nursing home, you can expect the right to have protections against involuntary transfer or discharge, to manage your money, form or participate in resident groups, and participate in activities. Nursing homes are required to provide pharmaceutical services, medically-related social services, nursing and related services, and dietary services to residents.
