The Peaks, A Senior Living Community in Flagstaff, AZ

Positive, the people seem to be happy. Meals have a nice selection. Facility in good condition for the age. Staff is friendly and helpful. Only negative is that the pharmacy and checks to make sure someone is taking there meds can be a little lacking. Alot of activities. nice pool. the way meals are served, order like a restaurant when she wants to eat. Also it is close as she can get to me. And the view is beautiful of the mountains.

They are very friendly. My Mom is in independent living so they don't do much for her but I know she is safe. If she needed help it is there. Biggest complaint is price and it keeps going up . As soon as my housing situation allows I will bring my Mom to live with me.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home offers residence to two or more seniors who are not related by marriage or by blood to the administrator. This type of complex offers its inhabitants 24-hour care by registered nurses. These caregivers provide healthcare services for seniors who cannot take care of themselves due to mental or physical conditions, including age.

Nursing homes can be a convenient and comfortable care choice for persons 65 years or older, however nursing homes will usually admit individuals 55 and above infrequently heard of in senior care regarding care types. Many residents of nursing homes might have behavioral issues. These can consist of a tendency to wander, verbal outbursts, or resisting care. Many occupants are bachelors or widows who have less social support, and almost half of nursing home residents are older than the age of 85. Nursing homes are required to provide room and bed maintenance services, pharmaceutical services, routine personal hygiene items, and medically-related social services to residents. The most common mental issue effecting nursing home residents is dementia, which can cloud their decision making capabilities, memory function, and and familiarity with their surroundings. Types of amenities and services provided at nursing homes might include home care (like cooking, cleaning, or help with other daily activities), wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, friendly visitor programs, and personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance).
