My mom is doing really great. She loves the community. They have a special diet and they go out of their way to her. The community is clean and the staff is outstanding. She likes living here and everything here is perfect for her. We would recommend every aspect of this community to other families for the great care and the wonderful value.

Sun City West Assisted Living and Memory Care
4.5

I would say that Sun City West assisted living center offers their residents a lot to do if residents choose to participate. They have a nice outdoor space to get fresh air and are very accommodating when family visits or if we have a small party for my loved one. It always is neat and clean and never has funky smells. If I had a complaint, it would be the high staff turnover, but I'm afraid that is the nature of the industry.

Nursing Homes

A nursing home is a complex that offers housing to two or more individuals who have no family ties to the administrator. A nursing home community offers its occupants around-the-clock care administered by on-site nurses. These nurses provide healthcare services for people who are unable to take care of themselves because of the effects of aging.

This type of community is a helpful and comfy living alternative for individuals 65 years and above, however nursing homes will often admit individuals 55 and above which is unusual for other senior care types. Many residents of nursing homes are seniors with interpersonal social issues, which can comprise of verbal antagonism, resisting care, or an urge to wander. Often times individuals may prefer to live in a nursing home due to a physical or mental disability that prevents them from easily accomplishing the activities of daily living. There are some services that may come at a cost to residents which can include specially prepared food, personal clothing, and personal comfort items. Many occupants are bachelors or widows with circles of support, and about 50% of nursing home residents are older than 85 years old. Examples of care services and amenities provided at nursing homes can include personal care (including dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance), room and board, wound care for pressure sores or a surgical wound, and monitoring of medication.
