Many seniors may be able to live without assistance, but cost of owning a home and the upkeep of the property might deter them from an independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a great remedy to this situation. Seniors may continue to use their free time as they wish while their meals are cooked by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are handled by staff, and social activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies differ between locations, many residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are an assortment of expenses and benefits to keep in mind while choosing an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in the plan: private phone, initial assessment fee, meals, internet access, field trips, Waiting list deposit, utilities, and parking. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include community activities, restaurant-style dining hall, laundry service, game/TV room, beauty salon & barber shop, security guards, fitness center & swimming pool, and golf course.
