Only been at HH for slightly over a year but have found all the nurses and staff to be very friendly and helpful, always willing lend me a helping hand when I need it. I enjoy the many little features that are provided, which are not provided in other living environments. Every week a new menu for all the meals for the ensuing week, an Activities calendar the month with live entertainers at least every 2 weeks, exercise programs almost daily, games and social get togethers, and religious sessions for those who want them. In all, HH is organized to help the residents enjoy their stay. I almost forgot to mention the providing of transportation to medical appointments off campus. This has allowed me to sell my car and save money. The drivers are friendly and our chats have been enjoyable. Needless to say, I like HH and living here. It is now HOME to me.
My mother has been there just about a month now, and they're excellent. The personalized attention my mother gets makes her feel like she's on a cruise ship that hasn't left the dock. Every single member of the staff is exceptional. Avondell has 25 assisted living beds and I think about 100 beds of independent living. For the assisted living side, they have four levels of care and they re-evaluate every 60 days. My mother went in at the highest level of care and she gets an enormous amount of help. It's a well-done community. I do think it's pricey, I won't lie there, but it is extremely nice. My mother hasn't discovered all the activities there yet, but we've met with the activities director and they're more than willing to help her find something geared just for her.
It has been difficult transition for my parent with their move to this community, but I know they are in good hands here. It is a good place for them to be, I know they are safe and being cared for well. We couldn't be happier with our choice to move our parents here. They have gotten involved in the community, with the activities offered. My mother's health is improving and she looks better. It has been wonderful experience for us. I would highly recommend this community, it has worked out well for us.
