We have been incredibly pleased with Hearthstone and my grandma loves living there! All of the staff members are friendly and attentive. The neighbors are kind and she absolutely loves the activities. It's great to have a shuttle for errands and the community is quiet and clean. Definitely the best place we could have found for her!

Avila Independent Retirement Community in Albany, NY
4.9

After visiting four other retirement facilities, we selected Avila for its friendly climate, services offered, meal opportunities, and several religious services provided on-site. Now, with three years of experience at Avila, we are pleased with our decision to join this community. We also know that Avila was selected the "Best in the Capital Region" for retirement communities through the Times Union for 2024. We now look forward to many more years at Avila.

Independent Living

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a convenient balance between living an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about housekeeping. Residents can live their lives as they see fit while their meals are cooked by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are taken care of by staff, and recreational activities are organized and scheduled. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar ages and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies differ between communities, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to enlist the services of independent medical providers, they may always do so. There are a variety of expenses and advantages to consider while determining an independent living community. It is important to determine if these amenities are included in the service plan: wellness program, housekeeping, cable TV, private phone, field trips, utilities, meals, and move-in fee. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include golf course, security guards, restaurant-style dining hall, healthcare center, laundry service, beauty salon & barber shop, transportation, and fitness center & swimming pool.
