Robbinswood in Grand Haven, MI
4.0

My mom chose Robbinswood because it is close to her friends and family. She enjoys the activities that they provide and the company of the residents there. Mom likes the food that they serve she has no complaints. The staff is friendly and caring and attentive to her care needs. There are outdoor seating areas available to sit enjoy the company of other residents, or sit quietly and enjoy the greenery. I would recommend this community to others.

The residents are very friendly. The staff is wonderful. There are some activities, but not a lot. I would recommend this place to anyone. The "aging in place" concept is very good. I will not have to move my mom as she needs more assistance.

What is independent living?

Independent living offers a stress-free lifestyle for older adults. Independent living communities don’t provide personal care or supervision, but do offer generally healthy adults opportunities for socialization and hassle-free living. Independent living services often include:

  • Nutritious meals and snacks
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Home maintenance and repairs
  • Social activities and outings
Complete guide to independent living

Muskegon, Michigan

Independent Living

An Independent Living Community provides residents the chance to live their active lives while ensuring their care requirements are being fulfilled. Basic chores such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and social activities is provided, allowing residents the autonomy to use their time as they choose, free from daily responsibilities. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Within the individual units, residents have access to their own private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies vary between locations, many residences allow pets as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of advantages and costs to consider while determining an independent living community. It is important to learn if these amenities are covered in the care plan: laundry, utilities, transportation, meals, housekeeping, initial assessment fee, move-in fee, and internet access. The luxuries that pertain to independent living include game/TV room, fitness center & swimming pool, beauty salon & barber shop, security guards, laundry service, healthcare center, transportation, and golf course.
