Short stay ended nicely

I had an amazing experience there with my mother. She was there for a respite stay. We went away on a short vacation and was really worried about my mother being home alone so we brought there for 3 weeks. she ended up getting therapy and doing even better because of her stay there. the staff were very kind.... Not quality dementia care

My father spent about a year in SS's memory "care" unit. The only thing that makes this a memory care unit is that the exits are locked. There were some good med techs and a few good aides, but in general staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. Unless my Mom was there to provide it, my Dad didn't have anyone help him eat. Aides were more interested in chatting amongst themselves and eating their own meals than helping residents. There were no dementia-specific activities other than occasionally someone would set some rubber building blocks in front of my Dad. While there was a friendly and energetic activities director, the activities were sporadic and not personal. It was depressing to see the lack of care given to my Dad and other residents. When my mom or I would pull the bell for someone to help my Dad in the bathroom, we often waited 20 minutes or more for someone to show up. I would not recommend Seminole Shores memory "care" unit.

Was not impressed with her care.

My Mom had Alzheimer's and moved into Seminole Shores December 2016 and stayed until we moved her to White Lake Memory Care May 2017. The director was aware of her condition. We moved her because staff didn't care for her as well as they should. No one sat with her during meals to be sure she ate. I went to visit her in the dining room and she didn't have her glasses on. Staff didn't know where they were. I found them under her rocking chair. She was missing them again and I found them at the nurses station. Some of her laundry didn't make it back to her room. The cost of care went up 3-4 levels in the short time she was there. My sister and I met with the finance person to discuss why. During the meeting the director came in and made her leave our meeting to talk to some rep that had come in. We had to reschedule. Her friends took better care of her than staff.

Best interest of the patient

Facility was great. Patient enjoyed being there. He was 89 yrs old when he was accepted into this facility. But after 3-4yrs hes being evicted due to staff not caring for him and he has smell of urine. He is in a wheel chair so needs assistance. So now he is 93 and has to go to a new home. What facility does this? Is that really in the best interest of the patient? Shouldn't your staff be held accountable for their job duties?

Nice and quiet

They had quite a few activities. You should drop in on your loved ones like and just check on the care like every week. My mom has eaten there a few times and prefers the lunches – the biggest meal of their day – it’s very good food. It’s a nice quiet location.

Great Community

Seminole Shores is a really great community and we are happy we chose them. The community is very clean and the staff is really friendly. We have heard some residents say there is not enough to do but with the wide range of abilities of the residents it makes it difficult to make every one of them happy. A suggestion we feel would be good for those that can't read on their own is to have an hour of story time. I think that would really go a long way for those residents just to be able to hear a story. We are really happy with Seminole Shores and would not have a problem recommending them to anyone.

Great feel to it

Seminole Shores is a great community. It is immaculate when it comes to cleanliness and the staff here is extremely friendly. It is a very warm and inviting community with nothing but positive attitudes. Everyone on the staff is good at what they do. They have a wide variety of activities, in fact the other day they had a antique car show for the residents and the residents were the judges, it was a really good thing considering the elderly remembered lots of the car that were there. When I entered the front door of this community there was just a good feeling about it and I knew this was it. I would highly recommend this community to anyone.

Exceptional staff, lots of activities...

Exceptional staff, lots of activities catering to men. Residents seemed engaged and happy, attractive, clean facility but only has studio style rooms. package price includes many services not yet needed. Still, This is a good candidate for a visit with my Dad.
