The level of care is excellent. The cleanliness of the complex is excellent. Their administrative services could leave a little to be desired as far as the billing. There's issues that have come up with billing, which they told me are related to a new software program they're using. But that's nothing that's insurmountable. I would just say be sure to monitor your bill. They were quick to resolve any issues when I pointed them out. The staff overall are very friendly and professional. This Covid thing has everything up in turmoil, so the ability to visit has been limited, but I'm sure that's going to improve. We had our loved one at a different place that cost more but did not do nearly as good a job, so I feel it's a good value at The Renaissance. It's exactly what we were looking for, and she's very happy here.
Moved my mother to Northstar from Arizona. She has been so much happier. The food has been good, friendships have been made very quickly, and she feels like she's home instead of in an "institution." The staff have been stellar at accommodating her needs. They were very patient while she got used to a new place and let her explore on her own and when she needed assistance with anything, they were there with a smiling face and happy disposition. Absolutely fabulous!
Generally positive, but.... shop around. They have work to do. Food on floor around serving trays. Not mopped or cleaned daily. Sometimes they run out of food options. Nuts in deserts when strong nut allergies exists. Also ....after 10 PM, the security needs to be more active. Either have an employee at the door to allow entrance to residents or provide residents with a key. Having the facility common areas unlocked is not a safe environment.

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a handy balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to concern themselves with chores. Food preparation, leisure activities and housekeeping are taken care of while you are unencumbered to use your time as you choose. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar ages and backgrounds. Within the individual units, residents have access to a private living space and a full kitchen, and can even live with a partner if they prefer. While policies vary between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers as desired. There are a variety of expenses and benefits to balance when determining an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these services are included in your plan: parking, initial assessment fee, internet access, wellness program, laundry, field trips, move-in fee, and utilities. The amenities that pertain to independent living include private rental hall, concierge services, game/TV room, laundry service, community activities, restaurant-style dining hall, fitness center & swimming pool, and beauty salon & barber shop.
