Dogwood Forest of Grayson
5.0

My husband ended up at Dogwood Forest in Grayson. It was expensive but I would give it a 10+. The food is so important to the residents, the high light of their day. They have a 'real' chef there and I ate many meals there myself. So number one is meals. They also had awesome entertainment. Sometimes it was the staff other times outside people. They go above and beyond the standards. You should check it out yourself.

Benton House of Covington
3.8

I really suggest you continue to do your research on all assisted living communities. Benton House provided all inclusive pricing, including care. The staff have been good to work with the family if we have any questions or concerns. There are three meals a day served to the residents. I believe they could improve variety of options more frequently, especially drink options.

Oxford, Georgia

Independent Living

For those who wish to live primarily without personal care assistance but would like the convenience of having chores and housekeeping taken care of by professionalls, an Independent Living Community may be the perfect option. Seniors may continue to use their free time as they see fit while their meals are prepared by a professionall chef, housekeeping and laundry duties are taken care of by staff, and social activities are scheduled and organized. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to be among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and more time can be spent with them with the basic maintenance of daily tasks out of the way. While policies differ between communities, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services can always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a variety of benefits and expenses to balance when determining an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are covered in the plan: parking, utilities, cable TV, private phone, meals, field trips, initial assessment fee, and internet access.
