Ivy Park at San Jose
5.0

What we like the most about Ivy Park at San Jose is that the residents themselves were all so friendly and very welcoming. Based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend this community to other families who are looking for a community for their loved ones.

Merrill Gardens at Gilroy
4.8

This is a good community to live. My loved one was able to make friends quickly here, and they feel safe. The staff communication with the family has been good and they have been responsive to our questions about our loved one. There are three meals a day served and there are choices for the residents to choose from. Also, the dining is open 7 am to 7 pm daily for the residents.

Independent Living

Many seniors may be physically and mentally capable of living without assistance, but the cost burden of home ownership and the maintenance of the property might deter them from an independent life. Independent Living Communities provide a solid remedy to this situation. Basic needs such as meal planning and housekeeping are handled by staff and a calendar of recreational and leisure activities is provided, allowing residents an opportunity to use their time as they see fit, free from daily obligations. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy an opportunity to live among peers, in a community with others of similar age groups and interests. Typically consisting of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer residences with many of the amenities of apartment life but with none of the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between locations, numerous residences allow cats and dogs as well. If residents decide they would like to employ the services of private health care providers, they always have the option. There are a number of advantages and expenses to keep in mind while deciding on an independent living community. It is important to figure out if these amenities are included in the plan: transportation, wellness program, internet access, meals, parking, initial assessment fee, housekeeping, and move-in fee. The benefits that pertain to independent living include golf course, healthcare center, laundry service, fitness center & swimming pool, beauty salon & barber shop, private rental hall, security guards, and transportation.
