Alexander Gardens is by far the most peaceful, beautiful, and friendly place I've seen. My mom loved being there, and the staff went above and beyond to make Mom feel at home. The grounds are the most beautiful and tranquil and amazing that I've seen in any other resident facility that I visited.
The care home is an immaculate, beautiful facility and the staff is very professional and many of them have been there since the 80s. Our family is so happy with the great care there. Also, as I understand it, it's the only care home in Santa Barbara that has a physician on staff and he's board certified in geriatrics.
The Villa Santa Barbara is a very nice community for several reasons. The food is better than in any of the past 5 places I have stayed. The rent is better (by far) than in any of the previous places that I've stayed. The managerial staff is top notch! Very friendly and ALWAYS there to help you with any question you may have. They are seriously the best people. Our dining room servers are so polite and great at their jobs. Our chef cares about what we think of her cooking and is always open to resident's suggestions. Also, we are just 3 blocks from State Street so walking to the beach is fantastic as you get to shop all the way down to the ocean! We have a nice pool table that I use frequently and, of course, there are other activities conducted by the staff for the residents. We have an exercise room where I do an hour of cycling a day and workout with the therabands. I would not choose to live in any other assisted living place in the Santa Barbara area.

Independent Living Communities provide seniors with a handy balance between an independent lifestyle and not having to worry about the upkeep of basic tasks and responsibilities. Frequent needs such as the scheduling of social activities and meal planning are accounted for, allowing residents more opportunities to live their lives as they wish. Along with their daily needs being met, residents can enjoy the opportunity to live among peers, surrounded by others of similar age groups and interests. Typically comprised of a private living area and a full kitchen, these communities offer homes with many of the amenities of apartment life but without the hassle. Guests can be invited over and entertained, and there will be more time to spend with them with the basic maintenance of daily chores out of the way. While policies differ between communities, a number of residences allow cats and dogs as well. Nursing and health care services may always be arranged for with private care providers if desired. There are a number of advantages and costs to consider when selecting an independent living community.
