We would probably go with 5s across the board with a 4 for Value for Cost. One comment: I have only had positive encounters with staff and any dealings they've had with my mother. I have observed, just once, where a staff member was pretty short (downright mean) with another resident. Only happened once, May have just been a bad day, and I don't know who it was, but I just wanted to comment. My family's personal experience has been very positive.

The staff rotates too much, so it's hard to get any consistency. Some are better than others. The housekeeping is fine. Communication with family was a big problem, mostly because of the staff rotating. After several complaints they now keep a running update that any staff member can check if we have questions, I am not sure why it took several attempts to get this done. I would think they would want to do this for all patients. The food is good. The move in process was excellent, they were very helpful. The recommendation I would have is to keep a file on patients that any staff member could access, not the answer we got so often on questions. I wasn't on duty. Overall, I would recommend this facility.

Overall- extremely pleased, my loved one loves Waltonwood ! Big Big Big bonus my loved one could have their cat. The community is wonderful. Love the smaller size. It feels like a home rather than a facility.

We're very happy for picking Waltonwood. There are so many things to keep our loved one happy. She loves the outside where the garden is to read her books. It makes her feel like home. She's made new friends to share sewing, knitting, and quilting ideas. Thank you Waltonwood for her care.
The Meals served are great and very tasty with several options, but by time they arrive to her room they often are cold or not warm/hot . Would be nice to deliver more on the scheduled delivery time, so would arrive still hot. Activities program does have many options and mom does like to participate in some that are offered to her. Lack of Communication with medical techs and other staff, can at times create internal delays which can make things difficult in responding back or getting information to the family. Overall is good facility and happy with all that is offered.

Our tour at Waltonwood Royal Oak was good. Apartment size was very important to my mom though, and she didn’t like how small the apartment was here.
The entire time my loved one was there they were very happy. My loved one never complained, and loved being there. The staff was very communicative and made sure everyone was safe during the pandemic.

My dad loves living at Waltonwood Royal Oak. He was always an introvert, but since he arrived at Waltonwood, he has become a social butterfly and thoroughly enjoys all of the activities from exercise classes to Blackjack. Both his apartment and the common spaces are lovely and warm. The staff at Waltonwood RO genuinely knows and cares about him. Everyone-- the receptionists, techs, nurses and even the Executive Director have gone out of their way for both him and me on countless occasions. I deeply appreciate their efforts especially as I live out of the state and am trying to manage his care/health from a distance. They have even stepped up their game since the advent of COVID-19, working extra hard to find ways to provide the same level of care, quality, and comfort, while balancing all of the necessary restrictions to prevent infection. I cannot say enough about our experiences at Waltonwood RO and rely on them to be there for my dad when I can’t.

Are you considering moving into a new living arrangement? I did, about three years ago. I am so happy I chose Waltonwood in royal oak. I wasn't preparing very healthy meals, but I found my answer here at Waltonwood. Even with the restrictions on been close to each other, we have so much fun. We have satisfying complete meals, in our lovely dining room. There are activities galore, like exercising, meditation assistance, bingo games, craft projects, coffee klatches, puzzle building, mail deliveries, and just talking with each other. You can buzz the staff anytime and your needs are med with lots of joy and satisfaction. Shall I go on? Any who, I love living here, and know you will too. Come join us!!

Excellent care and wonderful caring staff. My mom a resident for 3 months and loves it! Her needs are many and she receives the best care from the entire staff. Great food, lots of activities and the other residents are friendly and helpful. Looked at several assisted living homes before choosing Waltonwood. The base rate is comparable to others...the extra care depends on the level of care needed by resident. You will not find a finer assisted living place in the area!

This facility would be great for someone requiring minimal care. I was very impressed with the activities provided on a weekly basis, and the meals seemed very good. And there was a handful of employees that were exceptional in the care they provided, but not the majority of the staff. There were major issues with respond times when our mother needed assistance, and many of the caregivers were not properly instructed for certain aspects of her care that seemed pretty ordinary for older individuals. Luckily my mother had her mental capacities, and could verbalize the problems that continued to occur. Overall, I was very disappointed with their ability to provide the level of service that we were promised when she moved in. We had several meetings with them to try and resolve the response problems, but they never were resolved by the time she passed away.

They have good care. Their staff is well trained. I never saw any dirt, I never smelled anything, they are very clean. They charge a base fee, but then they add in the nursing care. They checked on her often, but I don't think she was able to use the call button. The parking is a definite problem, there is just not enough, certain times of the day it is very difficult to find parking. It was too big and too busy for us though.

Took Dad to visit and he likes it. It's the closest place to where I live. But it quite pricy. If insurance covers him we could probably manage it. His evaluation is next week.
