I down sized to the Villa and am extremely happy. Very caring staff, excellent menu, boat load of activities and loving neighbors. We’re all retired and lookout for each other, who could ask for anything more!... Read more
Ask someone to name five really fun things and "retirement community" will almost certainly not be on the list. Which got us to thinking. Why shouldn't a retirement community be fun? With no pesky job to get in the way, retired folks have the time to pursue anything their hearts desire. That sounds pretty fun. So, with that in mind, we set out to build a community that has a simple goal: Help the residents have more fun than anyone. The result: Villa Hermosa - 1% Retirement. 99% Fun!
Total monthly costs depend on room type, select services, and the level of care needed.
*Prices quoted are monthly rental charges and are provided by the communities themselves. Actual prices may differ due to one-time fees, timing and care services required. Speak with your Senior Living Advisor to learn more.

My parents have lived here 14+ years and the food was exceptionally delicious for 6 years. Then that long-term chef disappeared and the 3 chefs since then have given my parents and us as guests worse and worse food. I get the impression it may be partly the SRG food budget the chefs are given as the quality of especially fresh food has steadily declined. For instance, carrots being cheap are put in everything (Thansgiving turkey stuffing??). Meats are very dry and tasteless even when covered with sauces. I know it's hard to cook for so many and seniors lose their taste buds, but my wife and I have not lost our sense of taste. Tonight the roasted chicken thighs were dry, the breaded eggplant was chewy, the gravy covered turkey was dry, the roasted potatoes were tasteless, and the server reported at our 4:30 pm dinner that the fresh berries listed on the menu had "run out". I suggest the $[removed] revenue generated per SRG employee be used to buy some good food. Or sell

This place has very nice facilities, but after that it starts to fade. Besides some of the other criticisms that have already been listed, such as lack of parking, I would like to add that the service time after pushing a call button for Level I Assisted Living can take up to a half an hour and sometimes the caretaker does not show up. We had to supplement Villa Hermosa's staff with our own caregivers at a significant cost. The costs listed in the side bar on this page are only for the average room. Level I Assisted Living adds on another $800, Level II $1200, I am still researching Level III. Their caregivers (registered and qualified) ratio to clients is lower than we have found at other places.

This is not the place for you if you have visitors that will need to park. The parking is highly limited with a 2 hour time limit during daytime hours for spaces in front regardless of whether you are a resident or family. There is no parking onsite for private caregivers. The adjacent businesses (shopping center across Wilmot, bank, physicians' offices) guard their parking becasue of so many people for Villa Hermosa parking there. There is frequent staff turnover which leads to inconsistency in care. If you are not very independent in your needs, don't have family support, and have friends family that wil want to to park at the facility this is not a great alternative.

I love my apartment. I love the staff. I love the fact that I don't have to cook or clean and I have some wonderful friends here. Lots to eat, activities galore or your own wishes. Independent or Assisted Living is available. I have lived here 6 years, have no desire to move, so I'll stay here as long as my money lasts and the lord wishes me to remain.

A Place for Mom has scored Villa Hermosa 7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
