We are just thirty days into our experience with SLV Venice. I am sure as time goes by I will have a more detailed review. Right now I would rate is good to very good. The communication via the management and myself is excellent.

Small, charming assisted living with with caring patient care. Administration is friendly and try to accommodate needs but it's very hard to connect with nursing and activities staff to get information.

I think Sunset Lake Villages has improved a lot under their new management, and I am very pleased with the place now! The staff here is now very friendly, caring, and courteous. I do still think there is work to be done, however. The facility could use some new furniture and renovations. A good facelift would really compliment all of the progress they've made in how the place is run!

Did not accept me because I was not "weight bearing." They no longer have ECC license. Didn't like the place anyway - very disorganized and somewhat messy, with only one unit design large enough.

Response from Venice Palms Senior Living
July 6, 2015Hi, I'm Katie, I work at Holiday Retirement's Home Office. I'm sorry to hear you had a negative tour experience at Sunset Lake Village. I've passed your feedback onto our Resident Relations department for their review. Please note that you're welcome to call them as well at [removed]. Thank you, Katie
My mother is relatively new in Sunset Lake Village, but thus far it has been a positive experience overall. I especially really liked how they made it really easy to get her set up in there. Going through these changes can be tough and they really helped to make it a very smooth transition.

My cousin and I visited this facility in an effort to find an ALF for our elderly Aunt. The folks that are working there seem to be very helpful. Administration goes out of their way to give you information that will help you with the financial aspects. We did decide on this facility, however, we have not moved our Aunt in yet as she is still in rehab. I cannot give a fair review of some of the services, but will return after her admittance.

The facility is ran by very nice and friendly people. That being said there too many chiefs and not enough Indians if you understand the meaning. They are serverly understaffed which leads to poor level of care. The staff is poorly trained which also contributes to poor level of care. Clothes are lost and disappear on a daily basis, even bedding. On a brighter note the facility is pretty clean and in good repair. The food always looks good and smells good. No complaints in those areas.

My first visit to Sunset Lake Village in Venice, FL was life changing. The friendly informed staff were able to ease my mind about selecting an assisted living facility for my mother. The facility was extremely clean and inviting. I was so impressed that I brought my mother and sister for a tour the next week. It was a great fit for Mom and she'll be moving in next week.

Our experience with Sunset Lake Village was only a brief one, but overall I thought they did an excellent job. They were terrific in helping us get our loved one moved in quickly and efficiently. The director was wonderful to work with, and they handled all of our loved ones care needs very well. We'd definitely recommend them to anyone else looking into care in the area.

Things seem to be going very well at Sunset Lake Village! My loved one has settled in and really seems to be enjoying herself. It's a nice community, the staff are friendly, and the food is good. It is worth a look if you are looking into options for a loved one!

Don’t go there. They didn’t take good care of my grandmother. They ruined her clothes so we had to buy new ones. The food was not great. It just wasn’t a good experience now. It’s not a good community to bring a loved one to.

We had a little bit of an issue when we moved my loved one in – they evaluated her and set the rate for her care and after five weeks they told us we needed to move her because they said she needed a higher level of care and they accepted the beginning fee and then in five weeks they has us move her.

Mom's stay at Sunset Lake Village was a short one, only a day, but they welcomed her and helped calm her fears about the "what if's" It was very clean, although she shared a room with someone else, Mom still had her space. The staff was so helpful during our crisis and went way out of their way to get Mom in the last minute.

It was a nice facility, the people there were very nice, but it wasn't quite as nice as the Manor Care. There certainly was nothing wrong with it, but it did feel as homey. The rehab program was excellent.

I was just there a moment ago, and it is kind of depressing. My friend is in rehab there. It seems like the people's conditions are really hopeless. It's not necessarily the place itself, just the people in the place.

I have toured twice and this seems like the best option as it is close to where I live.

A Place for Mom has scored Venice Palms Senior Living 8.8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
