My husband and I would definitely rate each category as a 5. We are so pleased with the Wellshire, but most importantly, my mother-in-law LOVES it there. She tells us almost every visit how happy she is there, that the food is delicious, and that the staff is so nice. She is not into group activities or parties, and prefers to just visit or dine with her friends. She really likes the library, too. There is always something for residents to do if they are interested. We can vouch for cleanliness, everything is kept up beautifully. First and foremost is the friendly and caring staff...at every level. They are always available to answer any questions or just to chat a bit. We also think the value for cost is very good.... Overall, Wellshire is a great place. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean. The value of what you get compared to other options is very good. There are some issues that need to be addressed, but they are not earth shattering or deal breakers. There are many things I like about the facility, but it is not perfect.

The facility is welcoming and the staff are caring and helpful. They need more music and activities for older folks, like in their 90's, music from the 40's or 50's, Maybe., Activities, nothing specific comes to mind, he's a moderately grumpy guy with lots of arthritis, hands don't work like they used too.

The Ac went out in a heat wave 3 times and they never put my mom in an ac room. My mom was left with a fan until they got it fixed. The food was terrible and the ants took over the place for several weeks. I bought my own ant baits in as they did not supply any after a week. We had other places we looked at call to ask if we were ready to leave yet. The shower needed to be fixed 3 times and the line was rodded three times because they did not rod it right the first time etc. A lot of retired people working to supplement their SS. Often while in the bathroom, my mom would have people just come in without knocking even after was asked them to knock. They were kind, but very understaffed. They fixed things but it never should have been allowed to break as after the third breakdown it was clear the Ac and other things simply needed to be replaced. We will never recommend The Wellshire to anyone, unless you just want a place to say is legal to put someone you do not care about that much. I know there are people who would do that. They include everything in the price and did not ask for her savings. They used this to replace quality of care. It was not enough for us. I know the business is a rough one, but this place is truly a buyer beware! To be fair to them, my mom was very difficult and simply hated the fact that she was sick etc. Still, they let a lot go and do a lot of patch work when things really need to be replaced. An old building with everyone waiting for the next thing to break. They claim cooperate will not authorize the proper repairs. Either way, not a ten for sure.

The staff here have always been helpful, friendly and always willing to listen. I really like the activities, but my loved one will not check them out. They are probably fine and I am sure it is just him. Maybe they could find something that a grump, 98 year old man would have interest in. I would definitely recommend The Wellshire Morton Grove.

I think it's a nice place. I like all of the staff. They're really friendly. Where it is lacking is in the activities department. My loved one isn't challenged by the activities they offer, so there isn't a lot that she's interested in. They also don't have a community bus, so there is no ability to go on outings for events, field trips, errands etc. It's a small community in comparison to other places, with about 40 residents. So from a social aspect, you're limited to the amount of people who are there. That could be a good or bad thing, depending on if your loved one gels with the folks who are there.

Our biggest concern currently is the laundry service as we are paying for this to be done, and the family is having to take this over since it hasn't been getting done in a timely manner. The community has lots of activities planned for the residents to engage with. They are very accommodating with requests and trying to rectify the family's concerns and questions. The staff is very nice and the community is clean. The food is very good and that my loved one enjoys, and there are three meals served a day.

Wellshire of Morton Grove is a small and intimate community that takes pride in providing the best care for their residents. Wellshire is affiliated with many other buildings and is a perfect way to have continuum of care. The thing that makes Wellshire stand out more would be their all-inclusive rates, this allows for residents and families to financially plan their future.

We're very happy with The Wellshire Morton Grove. The administration, the staff, the nursing; we're pleased with everything on every level. Most importantly, my mother-in-law is loving the place. She likes everything about it, the food and the people. She also just discovered that they have a cage of birds, she's very pleased. If they don't have something, she can ask for it and they will give her treats to take back to her fridge after meals. I would tell others: see it for yourself, and hopefully you will agree with our high opinion. The highest praise comes from the woman who is residing there. Every time we talk to her, she tells us how much she loves it. Thank goodness A Place for Mom recommended The Wellshire!

The facility is very nice, but it was not the right level of care for our loved one so we had to hire on a caregiver to come in. I talked to the residents while I was here and the people I talked to said they really liked it which was nice to hear. I would highly recommend them for assisted living.

Very responsive to my call and for a virtual tour. However, room wasn't as large as I thought. Price was in budget but room size wasn't.

Extremely dated. Saunders furniture for microwave/mini fridge. No toaster ovens in unit. Small place, only about 45 residents. Many of whom leave their door open on the first floor as you walk in. NASTY! For the price they're asking, they're certified nuts!

37 out of 50 stars. [Name removed] was very nice, welcoming, and answered all our questions. The facility is fresh in that it’s only eight years old. However, it had a stale, “funeral home-y” smell throughout. One interesting aspect is that the pricing is all inclusive for all levels of assistance living. You tell them what you need, and they provide it – no nickel and dime-ing or up charges. This is even if your needs change from day to day, week to week, or year to year. They did not seem to have a large number of caregivers. However, [name removed] stated that the average wait time for a service was less than five minutes. This could be because the maximum capacity is around 45 residences and they have only about 33 to 34 residents currently. The residents seem very lethargic. While a pleasant environment indeed, it was not energizing or invigorating in any way. It’s not a good fit for someone who is intellectually vibrant.

My mother is doing well here in this community. I do feel she is in good hands, and safe. They have a lovely staff, and they have been great to work with. They are taking great care of her, and needs. The experience is going very well, and this is a community I would recommend to my friends.

This place looks good. The lobby is attractive giving the look of a boutique hotel. The rooms are a good size allowing for things from home to decorate the space. Unfortunately, they don't have enough staff to take care of the residents. There are no staffing guidelines for Assisted Living so they hide behind that fact. Wait times for help are unusually long. The activities are boring and repetitive. The food has fancy names but they serve the same things over and over again. They use lots of canned fruit and frozen vegetables. With a little work this could be a great place. They have a new director. The jury is out.

I had a tour and I saw a clean community and good staff who appeared to know what they were doing for the residents. Overall they were too much money for me and not very convenient location.

I toured The Wellshire, and I think it used to be under a different name. We had someone that we knew that used to stay there years ago and did not have a good experience. I think that might have had an impact on our decision, but also, it was an older place. I'm sure everything is fine, but you know when you wonder into a place and just get a certain feel for it? The people were all very friendly and it was a good tour, but just not what we were looking for.

They had the most activities and flexibility. They were more expensive for the extra health care expense. It is a large facility with tons of activities. they pride themselves of activities and I felt they had different arrangements for activities. The tour was very good and provided another tour for my family members.

closer to a nursing home than assisted living. environment a bit dreary, not a lot of residents out and about, but seems like they provide good care and a very good value for the money. not lively and lovely enough for my mom.

A Place for Mom has scored The Wellshire Morton Grove 8.4 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
