The Sheridan is assisted living and memory care only. They cannot accommodate skilled nursing. We also were able to have our continued hospice care. However when our hospice nurse and Doctor asked about a hospital bed and a room closer to the nursing station. It was not a priority for them. I don't think they were comfortable with me prioritizing hospice care. To me it felt like the goal was not to lose a client. I believe the staff was not qualified for the skilled nursing needs. My loved one ended up falling and had a hospital stay for a suburban hematoma. .She is now in a skilled nursing facility. My disappointment came from the director of nursing at the Sheridan trying to find alternative ways to keep her there . It's a nice placement for assisted living services and mild dementia but not for advanced dementia patients I take responsibility for that... In not realizing how fast my love one's situation would change so rapidly. Something every one should keep in mind.... Read more

My dad was living at the Sheridan. He lived there for about three years, until he recently died. I was glad every day that we chose the Sheridan. We were looking for a place around Park Ridge so he could be close to us. We initially chose the Sheridan because it looked like a four star hotel. We quickly found that the real gem of the Sheridan is the four star staff. I visited my dad often each week so I got a pretty good feel for the staff. Almost to a person they were friendly, calm and kind, giving the place a warm homey feel. My dad felt the same way. He never had a bad word to say about the place or any staff member. If you are thinking about a family member living in assisted living, you cannot do better than the Sheridan. When they say "Welcome Home", they mean it.

Response from The Sheridan at Park Ridge
October 27, 2023First, we are deeply sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. It was an honor and pleasure to have your loved one as a member of our community. If you ever have any questions, please let us know. Thanks for this lovely review.
I toured with The Sheridan at Park Ridge and it seemed like a very, very nice place, but the only drawbacks were the facility was very big and it was more expensive. I think the size may have been an advantage for a very social or active person, but that is not my mom.

The Sheridan at Park Ridge was a little further from my home, but I liked it. It seemed nice, and comparable with where she is now.

September 1, 2022Life is busy. Thank you for taking the time to visit us and leave us this review.
This community was very nice but for my mom but it was too open and glamorous. The studio room was also very small. For the price that was being paid there was just not enough being given. It just would not have worked for my loved one. Charges were on a scale also and I was not sure that this would work for my loved ones budget.

My loved one lived there for a few months, but it was just too expensive. It was a beautiful place though, and the people very nice.
I am very pleased and everyone in the community is very nice and very helpful. They are flexible with my visit due to me being a caregiver. They have good to keep the residence safe while being flexible and accommodating for the family. I would recommend this community to others.

The environment is beautiful. You almost feel like you're in a luxury hotel. The cleanliness was good. There was never any urine smell. They kept my frined very clean. The cost, however, and I guest his is becauseitis such a nice, well kept beautiful palce, is kind of prohibitive to regular individuals. But that is really teh only thing I could say isn't top marks - is the cost. The staff were pleasant, alsways smiling, very welcoming, very concerned about the resients. They got to know the residents and treated them as family. Sometimes my freind had to wait a little bit when she called for assistance, but it was defintiely not all the time. Just on occasion. OVerlall, the care and the response was pretty good.

LOVE that they have 3 levels of memory care, if/when that would be needed. 2. Good location for all to visit.

March 11, 2021Thank you John for sharing your experience with others. We are proud of our memory care program -- and will pass your comments to our team!
This is more of a plea to other families, rather than a complaint. PLEASE do not subject your loved one to the unfathomable negligence and disrespect they will undoubtedly receive at this facility. As with all facilities, there are a few great employees whom this does not apply to, but the vast majority, and especially [name removed], have no business being in a caregiving or assisted living facility. It is a hard enough decision to make with loved ones, let alone dealing with such an uncaring, unprofessional and condescending woman who is in charge of this facility. And be ready for charges and accusations that will not be explained. Oh, and when you have personal items stolen from your family members apartment, be ready to be blatantly lied to and accused of lying yourself. I cannot warn people enough, please stay away from.this assisted living facility. Especially if [name removed] is still the one in charge.

They did not deliver on what they promised us in the beginning. The promised they would take care of everything and that did not happen. Next thing I knew they said I needed 24 hour nursing care after they said she would be the highest functioning residents on the floor. She also took several falls while she was here, I did not feel like they were qualified.

I could not be more pleased with my choice. The Sheridan looks more like a beautiful boutique hotel than an assisted living and memory care facility. The people who work there really care about the residents, the food is fabulous and the activities are amazing and really diverse and fun. The apartments in assisted living are modern and spacious yet comfortable at the same time. I would highly recommend The Sheridan as your loved one’s next home

A Place for Mom has scored The Sheridan at Park Ridge 8 out of 10 using our proprietary review score.
We assign review scores to give a more reliable view into senior living communities and home care agencies. Our review scores prioritize reviews that are recent — the past 24 months — because we know families need current information when choosing senior care.
Those with many recent, positive reviews receive a high review score, while providers with few recent reviews — regardless of how positive — receive a lower review score. Communities with no recent reviews will not have a review score, even if older reviews are positive. The maximum A Place for Mom review score a community can receive is 10 points.
