Our mother has been at Vineyard for 14 months and she has thrived there. After 11 years since diagnosis her dementia has plateaued and there has been no noticeable decline in over a year. The staff is caring and as competent as possible given the low pay and high turnover in the industry. Management takes our concerns seriously and makes every effort to address them. The place is clean and odor free, the food is good and the care is very good. After taking care of our mother for four years at home, she has thrived and done very well at Vineyard. We are very happy with her placement there and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Reading the few negative reviews, they are not consistent with our experience at all.... Read more

Lots of staff turnover and understaffed. There were barely any activities, residents were sat in front of tv all day.

Response from The Vineyard at Fountaingrove
December 20, 2022Hi Christina, We are happy to hear our staff are providing a friendly and warm environment for your loved one. Thank you for taking time to share your experience.
I recommended this place to my Step-Mom who was trying to place my Dad in memory care. It was really difficult for her. And I think they were helpful at that time. I live out of state so it wasn't until later that I visited. Recently I had a chance to be in the area. After six calls (4 in which I left messages for [name removed]) I never got any response. Same with an email to [name removed]. NO response from the one person I had to speak with. Nothing. I am very disappointed that they would never respond to a family member like this. This is still my Dad, even if he is deep in dementia/Alzheimers.

Horrible place! For a facility that was built after the 2017 fire, you would expect a nice place. Building was nice. [Name removed] the Marketing Director was very helpful, but it went downhill the first day. This place lacks leadership, not enough staff, no activities, no communication except from caregiver to report a man using mom’s bathroom. He was a resident there. Then called and I spoke to mom who was so angry and upset that I put her in a crazy house. Then she continued to try to leave by opening doors until she found one and she got out. They got to her and brought her in. Overcharged me and when I notified them I was taking her out, they had the nerve to tell me I didn’t give them 30 day notice. I told them I wouldn’t pay for lack of care. Place smelled of urine, and feces when residents weren’t taken care of. Residents were yelling for help and not one helped them. No one in front desk or answered the phone. Where were they or what were they doing? Don’t place your loved one there. Four residents left.

I really liked this facility. My only question is about cost as it’s a bit unclear what criteria would drive a resident to be at level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 for the add-on fee. This facility is definitely high on my list for consideration.

The Vineyard has been updated since the 2017 Tubbs Fire. My sister is a resident there with mild memory loss and has to use a walker or wheel chair since prior fall at home broke her hip with surgery that followed. When I visit I don’t see too many activities. The TVs are on and residents are sitting around and sleeping. They do have music playing and people stop by to sing and play old time music. The Vineyard is pretty clean and the caregivers are always busy keeping severe memory residents safe. My sister has made friends there which she has gotten used to the routine. The prices have gone up more than once since she moved in over a year ago. I had my sisters hip x rayed since her hip still bothers her. The resident doctor since hasn’t got back to me over the last few weeks to get his option . I’ve seen many places much much more worse to have a family member live. I had home care for my sister that only lasted three days when my sister walked out of her house and fell without the care giver even knowing it at three times the price. The Vine yard is a nice place but you have to figure how much money you can afford to pay each month ; which we are trying to stretch my sisters money as far a we can.

I am very impressed with The Vineyard at Fountaingrove. The staff was very helpful from the beginning, showing us around to evaluate the various room possibilities, discussing possibilities for caring for my friend and helping me though the paperwork necessary for her entry to the facility. Once we selected a room, they were able to hold it for a maximum of 30 days which allowed us time to fulfill our paperwork obligations and arrange her move. Once there my friend experienced friendliness from both the staff and other members of the community. I was particularly impressed with the willingness of the staff to do whatever they could to assist. We never encountered anyone who would not provide the time and smiles needed to meet our needs. She was able to participate in many of the planned activities and enjoyed having meals in the dining room with the friends she made. In comparison to her previous placement the value was outstanding.

Look elsewhere for your loved one. Insufficient care for our father who had memory issues and mobility issues. No real engaging activities, just a holding tank for those sweet elderly people. Night nursing staff did not help properly with his cpap machine and that was really dangerous for him to not have the quality sleep he needed. The facility is beautiful and new but do not let that fool you. If you look closely, you will see that there have been several complaints filed against this facility with the State of California: secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFa…. There is a lot of staff turn over. We pulled our father out after four months. I just really do not think this is a good facility and I would not, and do not, recommend you place your loved on here. Keep looking, this place has a long long way to go.

I am very pleased with the care and the physical environment at this facility. The current staff is helpful and kind; the activities coordinator [name removed] is very good and comes up with wonderful outings and activities. My mom has thrived here and the staff has helped me with insight and support.

[Name removed] was a terrible person to be working with, his level of professionalism is slim to none and he got really irritated with us asking questions about how the facility was and even went as far as to ask me and my wife if we were done with the questions yet.... Not a good place right from the start and would never recommend anyone I know to this company.

We placed our Mom here in January after the fires . They were still in emotional recovery stage but were very informative and helpful to us. I agree that paperwork is not their strong suit but the work they do with their community members is wonderful. My mom went beyond reluctantly but within weeks she was happy and adjusting. Every staff member knows her name and is respectful and loving. It is a challenging clientele since everyone has memory issues. I feel that they do a wonderful job respecting all of them and allowing them to be as independent and involved as their disease allows them to be

There is a lot of false promises at this community. From the day we moved in October 28th the heat hasn't worked and my mom stays cold. They had a fire in there before we moved in and the rugs have stains on them and there could be mold under those rugs nobody has looked into that. Everytime we request something to be fixed not one thing gets fixed. [Removed] is useless and never helps resolve things. They wait till my mom is out of pills before they tell us to reorder. They called me and told me I was late for the month of November and I had to prove to them that I had paid it. There is a community room where they watch movies and there isn't adequate seating so people have to sit in uncomfortable dining room chairs. My mom have made friend here and it's unfortunate she isn't getting the care we are paying for. I would not recommend this community. They never answer the phone when we call and the staff definitely needs more training.

The administrators are very incompetent. They make excuses and pass the buck. They jerked me around. Not giving me paperwork in a timely manner which then took more time to get properly filled out by physician. They came to home wearing a name badge with Memory Care boldly written on it which I made her remove after arriving 25 minutes late. She forgot to bring the paperwork and I was informed I would have to go to the facility to pick it up. \In the end they jacked the price another $800 stating my mom was tier 3. The woman is ambulatory, she's not incontinent, she's coherent in the moment... she just can't remember things. Though she is a feisty one. \And, for $6500 they won't even do the residents laundry.

This one was new and we didn't see it. It looked beautiful on the outside but we didn't realize it was a memory care facility. Unfortunately we won't be seeing the inside.

Fountaingrove Lodge is an amazing community. When we toured the place it was not ready for residents. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another community because we needed a place right away.
